The Department of Biomedical, Health and Nutritional Sciences prepares students to become knowledgeable professionals dedicated to the highest standards of science and health care.

The MS Program in Biomedical Sciences offers a curriculum well suited to those who wish to work in a research laboratory, individuals seeking acceptance into post-graduate professional schools (e.g., medical or dental school) and students seeking a career in basic science research who are planning to continue in doctoral programs. Students are taught by expert faculty specializing in the fields of microbiology, hematology, immunology and clinical biochemistry. Students may join the laboratories of faculty and acquire excellent research experience.

LIU Global offers a BA degree in Global Studies, a discipline that investigates the world’s interdependent political, economic, cultural, and ecological systems. Global Studies equips future leaders with tools to address challenges that transcend national and disciplinary boundaries, preparing them to develop solutions at the local, national, regional, and global levels. LIU Global organizes its curriculum around six issues that pose the greatest challenges to human wellbeing:

• Economic inequality, poverty, and access to livelihoods
• Social inequality: gender, race, ethnicity, and human development

The Bachelor of Science in Communications is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed for careers in today’s expanding media world.

The program provides technical experiences in the creation of digital moving images, electronic journalism, audio technology, as well as the fundamentals of researching, reporting, and writing, across many media platforms. The project-based curriculum is structured to develop creative capacities in both individual and group work, foster critical thinking, and cultural awareness, helping to prepare students to live in today’s multi-faceted society.

Through the study of English, students learn to evaluate sensibilities both past and present, acquiring a profound knowledge of their own humanity and of the human condition in general. The study of English helps develop fluency of expression, skill in logical analysis, and facility in planning, organizing, and revising.

Undergraduate and graduate programs in English with a concentration in literature offers you an opportunity to explore the world around you and enduring issues of identity, morality, spirituality, and material success through the great minds of Western civilization.

The writing concentration explores various forms of creative expression through course work in literature, creative writing and non-fiction writing. Students pursuing this concentration have the opportunity to take courses in “Academic Writing” (expository, argumentative, creative writing), “Performance Writing” (screenplays, teleplays), “Writing for the Marketplace” (business, public relations), and “Rhetorical Theory” (ancient and modern).

The Programs provides a strong educational foundation in science and the liberal arts, and comprehensive coursework in veterinary technology. Students receive the core knowledge for entry into professional practice as well as tools for lifelong learning. Through the synthesis of clinical and didactic experiences, students develop clinical competence, conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills for effective problem-solving. We seek to prepare graduates who will have essential literacies including written and oral communication skills and thus be clinically competent professionals able to provide quality care to the community and other groups of interest.

As a Film major, you will learn to communicate and interpret the world around you through courses in all levels of production, editing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, producing, and film history.

Beginning in your first semester, you will get hands-on experience working with traditional and digital film equipment and exploring all forms of narrative and documentary storytelling. The comprehensive, widely respected film curriculum prepares students for creative, critical, and technical work in the worlds of film, television, and digital media. In addition, you will study a well-rounded liberal arts foundation that will help develop proficiency in areas of human development: self-discipline, self-motivation, creative thinking, critical analysis, collaboration as part of a group, and leadership in a group.

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in Criminal Justice is designed to meet the demands for professionals working in policing, corrections, prosecution and pretrial services, probation, parole, juveniles, public safety, victim services, civil and family courts, homeland security, international security, and other related fields. In addition to our core curriculum, which thoroughly explores the theory and practice of the criminal justice system, you can choose from elective courses that focus on a particular area of interest. The curriculum will expose you to the latest trends in theory and technology that impact criminal justice.

The Art Therapy programs in the Department of Art explore the interaction of the visual arts with psychological theories and practice.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Art Therapy provides training for undergraduate students who wish to use their creative skills in a variety of health care environments. The program emphasizes preparation for graduate training in clinical art therapy.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Arts with a concentration in Musical Theatre provides personalized and intensive classroom instruction and stage experience to prepare students for performance careers in Musical Theatre. Students receive a rigorous grounding in history, literature, theories and methodologies of classical and contemporary theatre arts, and work with professional musicians, actors and playwrights. Students also have a variety of opportunities to perform in main stage productions directed by renowned New York City directors. The 120-credit program is selective and acceptance into the program requires an audition.

The musical theatre concentration draws from the Suzuki, Stanislavsky, Chekhov and Linklater techniques with concentrated study in techniques and approaches to musical theatre. The core program, taught by professional theatre artists, emphasizes development of a riveting stage presence based on dynamic physicality, emotional authenticity and a commanding voice.

The 120-credit B.S. in Health Sciences is a science-based major designed for freshman and transfer students who aspire to careers in a variety of health-related fields, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, pharmacy, physician assistant, medical imaging or health information management.
