The 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Political Science is an individualized, interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in a liberal arts approach to the contemporary world. You will graduate from this program with a well-rounded knowledge of political theory, American government, international relations, comparative government and public administration. Distinguished professors interact with their students in small class settings that foster the exchange of information, perspective and ideas. Visiting professors from prestigious institutions, including the United Nations, offer insights developed in the course of careers in diplomacy, politics and public policy. Through the study of English, students learn to evaluate sensibilities both past and present, acquiring a profound knowledge of their own humanity and of the human condition in general. The writing concentration explores various forms of creative expression through course work in literature, creative writing and non-fiction writing. Students pursuing this concentration have the opportunity to take courses in “Academic Writing” (expository, argumentative, creative writing), “Performance Writing” (screenplays, teleplays), “Writing for the Marketplace” (business, public relations), and “Rhetorical Theory” (ancient and modern).

With the specialized, advanced training provided by the 58-credit Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology you will be equipped for a career diagnosing and treating a wide range of speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders. 

The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in speech-language pathology at LIU Post is designed to mentor and educate students to become competent, caring, qualified and accountable speech-language pathologists who in turn will be well equipped to serve clients in a culturally and linguistically diverse society. Our goal is to provide students with a comprehensive program, built upon a sound theoretical foundation in speech, language and hearing sciences, in which clinical skill development is integrated. Educational and clinical experiences will be guided by a strong adherence to evidence based practice.  Strong clinical reasoning, decision making, and communication skills will be developed through training and supervised practice.  Students will be required to demonstrate high standards of competency and ethical conduct within the scope of professional practice. An important element in our training of MA candidates includes inter-professional educational opportunities where students can learn from and work closely with other disciplines. Simulated experiences at our state of the art Simlab and with computerized simulators assists students to be prepared for clinical interaction and to practice their skills. We seek to guide our students through the program by providing advisement, instruction, as well as clinical and intellectual challenges. Our program goals are both formative and summative in accordance with standards of our professional accrediting organization, the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of the program our students will be prepared to function in our pluralistic society as speech-language pathologists working alongside allied health professionals and educators in a variety of settings serving the needs of children and adults throughout the lifespan. In terms of employment, our graduates have enjoyed a high employment rate in a variety of pediatric and adult sites on Long Island, New York City and across the country.

The Theatre Arts programs are designed to help you place theatre within the wider context of humanistic studies. The curriculum covers the broad-based study of theatre history and literature, acting, dance, design, directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, management and technical production. Classes are small and faculty members provide a supportive environment for you to develop as an individual artist.

The B.S. in Business Administration focuses on the roles and behaviors necessary to become an effective manager: planning, organizing, problem-solving, leading, operating and controlling. The degree equips students with the professional skills to run a successful & competitive company, and to productively interact with customers, employees and shareholders. Through specialized courses in organizational behavior, business and society, international management and cross-cultural behavior, and creating and managing a small business, you will develop a broad knowledge of the inner workings of all types of commerce.

The Bachelor of Science in Music is for students who desire a strong music program, together with a well-rounded liberal arts education. Our 120-credit curriculum combines practical music instruction, including private lessons; classes in music theory and music history; elective credits that can be used toward your chosen music concentration; and traditional liberal arts courses in science, history, literature, economics, political science, philosophy and foreign languages.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration is designed to prepare students for a career in the organization and management of health services. Upon completion of the 120-credit degree program, graduates will be prepared to assume entry and mid-level positions in health care administration. Throughout the course of study, students will acquire a keen understanding of the political, social and economic components of the health services sector through courses that range from statistics to financial management. Special emphasis will be placed upon developing the students’ ability to identify, comprehend, describe and differentiate among the major components of the health services system.

The College of Management (COM) at LIU Post offers a new, 30-credit, specialized Master of Science in Data Analytics and Strategic Business Intelligence program (MDA) with a blend of data science, IT, and business courses to prepare students for the demand in industries for data-literate managers and data scientists with solid business knowledge and analytical skills.

The MDA program is designed for recent graduates or working professionals in their early or mid-career phases.  The ideal student should have basic quantitative and IT knowledge and skills through prior coursework or working experience, and be highly motivated to learn how to deal with data as a strategic asset and apply IT and analytic methods to make data-driven business decisions.
