The Art Therapy programs in the Department of Art explore the interaction of the visual arts with psychological theories and practice.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Art Therapy provides training for undergraduate students who wish to use their creative skills in a variety of health care environments. The program emphasizes preparation for graduate training in clinical art therapy.

Journalism is a challenging and fast-paced career. Given the flood of information that surrounds us, the public looks to skilled journalists to provide news and commentary that informs civic dialogue and to report the latest trends and events in politics, government, culture, entertainment, sports, technology, and much more. The Journalism major trains students to be strong writers, a skill that can be applied to jobs in many other fields as well.

The 120-credit Bachelor of Fine Arts in Journalism provides you with an understanding of the increasingly complex task of reporting, writing, editing and delivering the news in a multimedia environment. Our program develops practical knowledge and conceptual foundations for work in the varied forms of print, broadcast and online journalism as well as for graduate study in journalism and related fields. Journalism students are strongly encouraged to select a minor in another field, such as a science, social science or business to better prepare them to report in a specific content area with deeper understanding.

The Sports Management program trains students in all aspects of sports management and places them at the doorstep of the most successful and lucrative businesses in the sports world. Students will study a variety of disciplines, including business, marketing, communications and management, and will gain industry-specific skills, such as representation, administration, branding, event planning, and public relations.

The Department of Teaching and Learning offers a highly respected dual undergraduate major in health education and physical education that prepares you to teach both disciplines in elementary, middle and high schools. The redesigned 127-credit 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in the Health Education and Physical Education program will provide you with greater career flexibility and will lead to New York State Initial Teaching Certification in two distinct disciplines.

Students in the program learn effective techniques of classroom management, curriculum design, and lesson planning for children in Kindergarten through Grade 12.  Liberal arts courses in biology equip you with knowledge in human anatomy and physiology.

The Health Education component examines nutrition, health care services, sexuality and family planning, personal well-being, and drugs in contemporary society. You will learn how to encourage children and teenagers, in a non-judgmental approach, to discuss their experiences, attitudes and values related to health issues.

The Physical Education portion shows you how to create a program that motivates children and adolescents to stay fit. You will learn how to organize movement activities, create rules and regulations, conduct lessons that allow for maximum practice opportunity, analyze student performance and identify sports-related injuries.

In both disciplines, you will gain extensive field-based experience through methods classes and student teaching in local school districts.

The College of Management (COM) at LIU Post offers a new, 30-credit, specialized Master of Science in Data Analytics and Strategic Business Intelligence program (MDA) with a blend of data science, IT, and business courses to prepare students for the demand in industries for data-literate managers and data scientists with solid business knowledge and analytical skills.

The MDA program is designed for recent graduates or working professionals in their early or mid-career phases.  The ideal student should have basic quantitative and IT knowledge and skills through prior coursework or working experience, and be highly motivated to learn how to deal with data as a strategic asset and apply IT and analytic methods to make data-driven business decisions.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing incorporates state-of-the-art technology integrating high fidelity simulated patients, electronic patient record systems, and patient-centered care. LIU Post is one of the few programs in the country that offers entry-level bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology and has been a provider of education in diagnostic imaging since 1973. Radiologic technologists operate x-ray and digital imaging machines, digital mammography equipment, computed tomography (CT scan) machines, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to provide physicians with images of the skeletal system, organs, tissues and other vessels of the body—important diagnostic tests that help doctors detect and treat illness and injury. The B.S. in Radiologic Technology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

To prepare the workforce of the future, the 30- credit M.S. in Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to educate and train skilled leaders to create AI applications and AI systems that are designed to solve complex real-world challenges and problems across many industry domains. The purpose of the program is to achieve this latter goal while addressing the emerging needs of the market. Additionally, the new program, with its faculty and students, aims to accelerate multidisciplinary research and discovery in LIU emerging signature areas: health, pharmaceutics, pharmacological engineering, bioinformatics, and business among others. The program will create new opportunities for research and economic development.
