The graphic design program at Susquehanna is focused, close-knit, challenging, intense and ultimately very rewarding. Our majors have a wide variety of opportunities to connect with industry professionals and high profile alumni; opportunities for guest speakers, field trips, portfolio reviews, workshops, juried competitions and internships abound.

From your very first semester, you’ll get important hands-on experience. In Global Business Perspectives, you’ll work on a consulting project to develop recommendations to improve the profitability of a major corporation, such as Netflix, Burberry or Under Armour. Then you’ll pitch your plan to real-life business executives.

Your education won’t just take place on campus — or even within the United States. You will go places around the world. Consider our award-winning study abroad programs, such as our popular Global Opportunities in London, where you’ll live, study and intern with other business students in the heart of this bustling city. Courses are taught in French so you’ll become proficient and comfortable speaking and writing as you earn your degree.

You’ll sharpen those skills through fun activities and clubs on campus and by studying abroad through our Global Opportunities program.

Majors can study in semester-long programs in a French city, while minors can also choose from shorter programs restoring a medieval castle or learning language and culture in the French countryside. Adding one of our interdisciplinary minors like applied linguistics and international studies help you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Mathematics is the study of patterns: from the distribution of prime numbers to the distribution of galaxies, from to shapes of soap films to the structure of musical compositions, and far beyond. Because of its combination of generality and precision, mathematics is integral to most areas of modern life, from the sciences to business, politics, and even the arts.

Prepare to mentor and train young musicians while continuing to develop your own skills as a musician.

From your very first year, you’ll get hands-on experience teaching one-on-one or in small groups in preK-12 classrooms.

As state requirements for teachers intensify, we’re committed to preparing you for certification in four years, including your student teaching semester.

Our rigorous curriculum will broaden your musical comfort zone and help you grow as a musician, performer and creative thinker. Mentoring from professors who are experienced educators and active performers will build your confidence.

From your first semester, you can take advantage of opportunities to perform in our many choral, instrumental, opera and chamber music ensembles. You can perform in our weekly department recitals, and you’ll give a solo recital in both your junior and senior years. With no graduate students, the focus and attention is on you!

Off stage, you’ll get a thorough education in music theory and history, including repertoire and pedagogy classes for your instrument from professors who are experienced educators and active performers.

Enjoy bright, airy rehearsal and performance facilities — even our practice rooms have windows!

Our finest venue for live music, Stretansky Concert Hall, seats 320 and is used for everything from student recitals to fully staged opera performances with orchestra. The acoustics are amazing.

Religion touches nearly every aspect of our world and society — literature, politics, current events, history, personal interactions and more.

Contemplate the ultimate questions, think critically and creatively about world religions, and analyze religious texts from various perspectives. You’ll be challenged to become a more compassionate, empathetic and self-aware global citizen.

Interdisciplinary approach

One of our most popular classes, Being Awesome at Life, examines the definition of a good life across cultures and throughout history. Science and Religion take a serious look at scientific and religious claims to find overlaps of agreement.

Other classes cover major world religions and how they relate to fields like ethics, archaeology, philosophy and environmental studies. Adding one of our interdisciplinary minors, like leadership and diversity studies, helps you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Your education won’t end in the classroom. Join one of our very active student-run religious life groups. Study abroad through our Global Opportunities program to get a firsthand look at the religions of the world in Europe, Asia, Africa or South America.

History may take inspiration from the past, but here you do history.

Scour primary sources. Excel at organizing, scheduling and keeping notes. Develop a research project that will lead to graduate school or a promising career right after graduation. Travel to conferences to present your work. Explore local historical sites. Work both with antique sources and the latest digital technology.

When you study sociology here, you’ll learn to think critically about how race, class, gender, sexuality, law, culture, social media, social movements and the state impact individual, lived experience.

Studying sociology builds critical thinking skills and the ability to examine complex questions — skills valued by employers in all fields. You’ll learn there are multiple ways to approach any given problem.
