Popular classes embrace the interdisciplinary nature of art history, examining art through the lenses of diversity, gender and politics. Art history also pairs well with a major or minor in anything from anthropology to communications to foreign language.

You’ll gain the religious literacy essential to comprehend and work in our increasingly globalized society. You’ll look at how people think about ultimate questions, whether or not you identify as religious.

Religion touches nearly every aspect of our world and society — literature, politics, current events, history, personal interactions and more.

Contemplate the ultimate questions, think critically and creatively about world religions, and analyze religious texts from various perspectives. You’ll be challenged to become a more compassionate, empathetic and self-aware global citizen.

Interdisciplinary approach

One of our most popular classes, Being Awesome at Life, examines the definition of a good life across cultures and throughout history. Science and Religion take a serious look at scientific and religious claims to find overlaps of agreement.

Other classes cover major world religions and how they relate to fields like ethics, archaeology, philosophy and environmental studies. Adding one of our interdisciplinary minors, like leadership and diversity studies, helps you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Your education won’t end in the classroom. Join one of our very active student-run religious life groups. Study abroad through our Global Opportunities program to get a firsthand look at the religions of the world in Europe, Asia, Africa or South America.

The sheer amount of data collected by businesses like Google, Facebook, and Amazon is staggering — and they all need someone to interpret what it means.

With a degree in business data science from Susquehanna, that someone will be you. From accounting firms to major consumer brands to healthcare systems, businesses of all types and sizes are collecting data.

You’ll learn to manipulate large data sets and how to speak the language of data crunchers and C-suite executives. You’ll be the one they consult to translate the numbers into actionable business intelligence.

You won’t find this kind of program at any other liberal arts colleges — or at many far larger colleges either. We offer one of the only publishing majors in the nation.

Publishing is all about connecting. Writers and readers. Art and business. Traditional and new technologies. Gain the knowledge and skills to navigate these interconnections, and reflect on the:

Our publishing and editing program is big enough that you’ll have access to a high-tech, dedicated lab and eight department student publications, and small enough that you’ll get hands-on, personalized attention from faculty. Our students have even helped produce a professional publication, which saw two pieces nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Our earth and environmental sciences program links the study of hydrology, geology, meteorology and soil science — water, rocks, air and soil — to explore how Earth’s systems work and how humans impact those systems.

Earth and environmental sciences examines the nonliving components of our environment and how they impact living things. It’s the scientific study of water, rocks, air and soil and their dynamic interactions. You’ll take courses in hydrology, geology, weather, soil science and more, with lots of hands-on field and lab work, culminating in a research collaboration with faculty.

Take center stage at Susquehanna and beyond in our theatre performance major.

You’ll grow artistically as an actor. From critical analysis of dramatic literature, to authentic and powerful acting on stage, you’ll develop in your craft beyond what you thought possible.

Explore characters that force you out of your comfort zone and learn something about yourself in the process. You’ll focus on the tools you need to improve your acting. Our intensive acting classes are supported by coursework in theatre history and dramatic theory, enhancing your performances. Adding one of our interdisciplinary minors, like arts administration and women’s studies, help you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

In ways more broad-based than fine arts degrees, you’ll gain a better understanding of human communication and culture.

As an accounting student, you’ll get the skills, hands-on experience and knowledge to excel in whatever industry you’d like. We have a high rate of success in preparing accounting majors to land jobs before or shortly after graduation. Understanding accounting rules and regulations is just one factor for career success. Today’s accountants analyze data to provide meaningful insights to help clients and businesses prepare for their futures.

Learn the essentials of digital and new media and gain real-life experience as a broadcaster — in front of or behind the camera — at Susquehanna. You’ll gain a holistic view of visual storytelling with our interdisciplinary minors, like film studies, to gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Learn principles of writing, ethics of communications, theories of traditional and digital media, and what it means to be a communications professional. Then, team up with others to learn tenets of broadcast media and professional communication. At Susquehanna, you will use the latest video and audio production equipment to practice videography, digital editing, writing for new media, commercial production and on-air procedures.

Action!

Evolve from a budding video storyteller to a well-rounded broadcast professional. You’ll amass experience in the field — broadcasting sports, creating commercials or shooting interviews — while you craft your own artistic vision. There are lots of opportunities for you to be involved, especially LensFlare, a group of students who create promotional and instructional videos for other students or faculty and staff.

Many broadcasting students take advantage of internships and study-abroad opportunities to gain a unique worldview of broadcast media. Before you leave Susquehanna, you will build a professional portfolio that will put you a level above the competition in your career field.
