The Troy University School of Accountancy is committed to providing students the accounting education required to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The Troy University School of Accountancy offers an undergraduate accounting curriculum that provides the foundation for entering the accounting profession in the public, private, or governmental area. An undergraduate degree in accounting will also give you a strong foundation in business-related topics such as marketing, finance, and management. Earning your degree in Accounting gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in a public, private, or governmental entity. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms or private company businesses and governmental agencies that recruit students from Troy University. The internships generally begin in January and last approximately three months. Importantly, the internship program is part of the accounting curriculum, so participation in the internship program does not delay graduation.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. Our annual Accountancy Day and Meet-the-Firms events provide networking opportunities with Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms as well as governmental agencies and private company industry representatives. You will have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs, Becker CPA Review, and ITAC Solutions. As a TROY student, you may also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)—one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States—as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs.

Individuals interested in helping others will find that a degree in human services will prepare them for a variety of professional roles. Human services professionals may choose areas of practice that allow them to assist children and families, the elderly, the homeless, immigrants or veterans. In addition, they may assist people with addictions, criminal records, disabilities and mental illnesses.

Human services professionals work in a variety of organizations such as those assisting people with finding employment and appropriating food, nutrition, housing and shelter. They may also serve as victims’ assistants or work in public safety or disaster relief.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. Students in the computer science undergraduate and graduate programs benefit from small classes and an active Computer Science Club, a student organization that hosts weekly seminars, study sessions and many other activities.

Through your training within TROY’s award-winning Hall School of Journalism and Communication, you will master the art of news reporting, including the interview process and writing for mass media. Within the framework of your degree, you will become a practiced communicator as you combine core broadcast skills with hands-on TV studio and production techniques and experiences. As a criminal justice major, you’ll study the agencies and processes involved in the administration of criminal justice. You’ll also dive into the areas of law enforcement, corrections, constitutional law, criminology and law and criminal procedure. These required courses serve as an academic cornerstone as you explore each area of criminal justice to find the perfect fit for you, whether that’s as a police officer, a crime scene investigator or pursuing a career as an attorney. A bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology provides the academic and field experience to prepare students for such rewarding careers in marine science as conducting research at universities and marine laboratories and working for industry or state and federal environmental agencies. The program of study includes two summers at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab taking courses such as Vertebrate Zoology, Oceanography, Marine Ecology and Marine Botany, among other choices. During the freshman and sophomore years, students complete their foundation courses, which prepare them for advanced study. Students complete their upper-level biology and physics classes during their junior and senior years at the Troy Campus.

Led by experienced and knowledgeable faculty members within TROY’s Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Interpreter Training, your courses will equip you with the skills and understanding necessary for your chosen rehabilitation-related career. In today’s society, the number of people with disabilities continues to grow. Because of this, there is a growing demand for rehabilitation professionals and other workers who provide services to people with disabilities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, physical therapists are among the fastest growing occupations in the nation with more than a 22 percent growth rate projected from 2018-2028.

That growth isn’t only felt in the physical therapy field—other rehabilitation-related occupations are expected to grow rapidly, as well. The BLS projects there will be a 22 percent growth rate among professions such as mental health counseling, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and substance abuse counseling.
