The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

Program Outcomes:

• Complete and understand the basis for public administration and the development of the public administration paradigm.
• Students should have begun to analyze and interpret real world data and its presentation to an audience.
• Student should be able to judge his/her fit into the organization as well as its internal dynamics.

The University of New Haven’s B.S. in Business Analytics will provide you with the training to be this indispensable individual. Through the program, you will gain organizational and technical competencies in data science, learning to interpret data-asset data asset analysis for business applications and acquiring the skills to guide organizational decision-making. We will train you in a wide range of data analytics methods, while also giving you specialization opportunities in sport management, marketing analytics, or operations/supply chain strategy.

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

The structure of our society – roads, bridges, tunnels, railroads, dams, and airports – all depend on the skill of civil engineers. The concentration builds technical proficiency in the skills needed to implement and oversee data-driven business decisions, forming inferences and predictions from data, and making optimal and robust decisions. Applications of business analytics span all function areas.

 Data Analytics

This concentration provides students with a technical awareness of the opportunities needed to enhance business operations. It provides the tools necessary to collect, identify, and understand patterns that allow the organization to make informed decisions consistent with its mission. This is especially true with the advent of Big Data and increasingly sophisticated computing techniques used to mine it. With a specific focus on the application of mathematical statistics to the description, analysis, and forecasting of business data, the concentration features the analysis of data from multiple firm sources such as marketing, finance, human resource management, etc. The R-programming language is a central part of the concentration’s design.

The International Business - Finance degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of finance while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate knowledge of financial markets and institutions and be able to apply the basic principles of corporate finance, international finance, and investment analysis.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - finance are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).  Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

It’s a complicated balance, and it’s the job of an economist to guide informed decision making. Because of the magnitude of this work, salaries for economics graduates are among the highest of any discipline.

The University of New Haven’s B.A. in Economics provides a balanced curriculum of liberal arts, business, and industry management, alongside history and politics.
