Electrical engineers make big dreams into reality—in the areas of alternative energy, wireless communications, electronic surveillance, computing technology, and semiconductor devices. Electrical engineers are at the forefront of technological advances. Imagine being part of a team that uses a CCD array to create an artificial retina, or a non-tethered pacemaker the size of a vitamin pill. How about developing an alternative-energy system to give a rural homestead power and wireless access, or designing the next generation of autonomous vehicles that conserve energy, plan routes and eliminate collisions? Closer to home, you can imagine a system that monitors your grandmother’s health, automatically administers her medication, and communicates remotely with care providers to allow her to live safely and with confidence in her own home.

The B.S. in Integrated Science Studies provides core studies in biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, mathematics, physics, and psychology with the opportunity for advanced interdisciplinary work at the Lake Campus of Wright State University. Students with a B.S. in Integrated Science Studies may pursue careers in informal science education (museums, science institutions, etc.),  science advocacy, scientific sales for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, technical and science writing, science policy and technology law; careers in interdisciplinary areas of science such  as  material science, climatology, bioinformatics, etc. or careers that require a unique combination of coursework; graduate programs in the sciences (may require certain qualifying coursework);  interdisciplinary graduate programs in health (e.g. biomedical science), environmental sciences,  journalism, public policy; professional degree programs in law and business; or teach science at the high  school or community college level (may require certain qualifying coursework in education).

Wright State University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Dance that prepares students to become versatile professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers – by integrating rigorous training and performance experience in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, with acting and musical theatre studies. Our faculty and guest artists represent all facets of professional dance and do all they can to help students prepare for success.

Dance majors hone their technical abilities and creativity through daily ballet classes and specialized training in modern and jazz/theatre dance, perform in dance concerts and musical theatre productions, and create and produce their own choreography.

Our most exceptional students experience the life of a professional dancer from the start when selected for scholarships that provide performance opportunities with our partner companies Dayton Ballet and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.

Studying one of the modern languages at Wright State will help you improve your ability to read, write, and speak in another language, study how that language is used in a social context, and become a more enlightened citizen. You will also learn about the history, politics, culture, media, and literature of your chosen country and study their economic and educational systems.

New technologies have increased global opportunities, and studying a modern language prepares you to work with people all over the world. Government and non-governmental agencies have discovered a critical need for college graduates with foreign language skills.

Professionally bound students may select BFAs in either Acting or Musical Theatre. These degrees both require students to master fundamental skills in Acting, Movement, Voice and Speech. Acting students continue with focus on a wide range of contemporary and period styles, with intensive focus in classical acting, stage combat and vocal skills. Musical Theatre students continue with a range of courses focusing on the broad ranger of styles from operetta to the most contemporary works. Musical Theatre majors study dance daily and intensive vocal performance. The professional acting and musical theatre programs are each an intensive, four-year progression of studies in acting, voice, movement, dance, and singing. Because courses in the Acting and Musical Theatre acting programs follow a set sequence, students are generally admitted only in the fall quarter. The Professional Actor Training Program is limited by audition to only selected, superior students who show promise of high achievement in acting and/or musical theatre. Retention in the Professional Actor Training Program is determined by periodic review. Students are retained in the program based on their growth and development as judged by the acting faculty

The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) is a completion degree offered through the Lake Campus of Wright State University. It is intended for students who have already completed a two-year degree program or equivalent from an accredited community college, regional campus or technical college, and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The program(s) of study provides students with knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for advancement in their chosen careers, and integrates technical skills developed within applied associate degree programs with professional skills intrinsic in a bachelor’s degree program.

The Department of Human Services in the College of Education and Human Services offers a Bachelor of Science completion degree in sign language interpreting (SLI) designed for students who have previously completed an associate degree in sign language interpreting.  

To enter the program, you must: 

Today's interpreters work with a variety of deaf consumers – those who acquired American Sign Language (ASL) as their first language, those who communicate through a form of visual English, and those who use a contact variety of English and ASL. Hard of hearing, deaf, and blind consumers are also specialty populations you will encounter in your work placements. You may also work with a variety of hearing consumers, some of whom are familiar with American deaf culture and the process of interpreting, and some who are communicating with a deaf person for the first time. 

SLI courses cover a variety of topics and are designed to enhance your current knowledge and skills, building on the foundation formed during your associate-level programs.

The goal of the program is to train students in modern electrical and computer engineering design skills, with the objective of post-graduation employment in a related field.  This will be achieved through attainment of the following student outcomes, as specified by the ABET Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission.  Each of these outcomes is addressed in one or more curricular requirements of the program.

The honors program in the Department of Art and Art History is designed to give students with outstanding academic ability and superior accomplishments in art history the opportunity to complete a program that encourages and recognizes their distinguished efforts. These students may earn an honors degree by completing the departmental major requirements, maintaining a high academic record, and successfully completing a senior honors project. Students are usually admitted to the program during their junior year. Interested students can obtain information on the honors program from the Department of Art and Art History office.

Program Learning Outcomes:

• Have integrated drawing skills into their aesthetic sensibility.
• Demonstrate an acquaintance with the materials and procedures of four of the studio disciplines taught at Wright State.
• Show appropriate levels of proficiency in several of the studio disciplines
• Have an understanding of the evolution of art history.
• Have integrated the study of original works of art into their artistic practice.

The Greek major allows students to focus primarily on the study of Greek language, literature, and culture. Students are required to take 7 semesters of Greek language. Additional electives cover courses in a diverse range of subjects relating to the study of the Classical world.
