The Bachelor of Arts in physics degree is designed for students who wish to couple a solid foundation in physics to a non-technical and creative arts field, such as writing, philosophy, political science, or other College of Liberal Arts majors. Likewise, students can obtain technical background in physics along with obtaining a background in business for those interested in business development opportunities.

The Department of Physics offers programs leading either to a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics. Students in secondary education may earn the Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and enter the Professional Year Experience program of the College of Education and Human Services for licensure in physics.

Biomedical engineering (BME) is a dynamic field and combines traditional engineering approaches with other crucial sciences to advance technology and improve quality of life—you could be working to solve problems in biology, chemistry, or medicine. Specialized areas of BME include bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, biomechanics, medical imaging, orthopedic engineering, and systems physiology.

For students interested in a career in medicine or other post-baccalaureate health professions, biomedical engineering can prepare students with related technical skills and practical applications necessary for success.

Program Outcomes
The following student outcomes of the biomedical engineering program will prepare graduates to attain the program educational objectives:

• An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
• An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
• An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
• An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which most consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
• An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
• An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgement to draw conclusions

You will study feminist activism and theory related to women and other marginalized groups within a multicultural and global context, including experience and identity related to gender and sexuality. You will gain excellent written and oral communication skills, research skills, and strong critical thinking skills. You can go on to work in a variety of fields including psychology, health, education, nonprofits, and other organizations and businesses.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers two master’s degree programs-the Master of Science and Master of Science in Teaching (Earth Science). The Master of Science program prepares students for careers as professional earth scientists in industry, government, or education, or for continued graduate study. Current research focus areas of the department include Aquatic Biogeochemistry, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Geospatial Analysis and Remote Sensing, Complex Earth Processes, Paleoecology and Sedimentary Environments, and Earth Science Education. The department is widely recognized for its applied and multidisciplinary programs and maintains a strong emphasis on practical field applications.

Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.

The Department of Biological Sciences is home to 22 active research faculty and approximately 50 graduate students. Our faculty are currently funded by EPA, NIH, NSF, USDA, a variety of state and local agencies, and private foundations. Many faculty members have leadership roles in local, state, national and international organizations, including the American Physiological Society, American Society for Testing of Materials, International Standards Organization, the Nature Conservancy, the Ohio Plant Biotechnology Consortium and the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. They also served on EPA, NIH, and NSF study sections and review panels and are otherwise recognized as experts in their field.

You will grasp basic principles of the structure, design, and language of music in its historical and cultural contexts while studying music history and literature at Wright State. You can better understand the music you hear, perform, and create. This major is not a terminal degree, and you should expect to continue at the graduate level. Please consult with the appropriate faculty advisor before entering this program.

The B.S. in Integrated Science Studies provides core studies in biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, mathematics, physics, and psychology with the opportunity for advanced interdisciplinary work at the Lake Campus of Wright State University. Students with a B.S. in Integrated Science Studies may pursue careers in informal science education (museums, science institutions, etc.),  science advocacy, scientific sales for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, technical and science writing, science policy and technology law; careers in interdisciplinary areas of science such  as  material science, climatology, bioinformatics, etc. or careers that require a unique combination of coursework; graduate programs in the sciences (may require certain qualifying coursework);  interdisciplinary graduate programs in health (e.g. biomedical science), environmental sciences,  journalism, public policy; professional degree programs in law and business; or teach science at the high  school or community college level (may require certain qualifying coursework in education).
