Data science is playing an increasingly important and controversial role in legal practice and the legal system more broadly. However, the number of lawyers with expertise in data analysis or machine learning is small.

This has implications for the delivery of justice as inappropriate methods are often employed by those who do lack sufficient knowledge of the legal domain. However, it also creates opportunities for those with dual expertise to find better ways to use data science to enhance access to justice, increase rates of settlement, and improve the efficiency of legal practice and the broader legal system.

Data Science and Decisions/Law is jointly offered by UNSW Law and Justice and UNSW Science.

The Master of City Planning at UNSW is a two-year, professionally accredited postgraduate degree that allows you to bring experience from previous study to launch a career in urban and regional planning.

In this degree, you'll immerse yourself in the manufacture and use of solar cells, which capture and convert sunlight into electricity. Courses in technology development, manufacturing, quality control, reliability, policy, system design and more will prepare you for varied, high-level work in an industry that is vital for humanity's future.
Your study looks beyond the sun as a source of energy, encompassing a wider range of technologies and their uses. It also addresses the important areas of solar architecture and the design of energy-efficient buildings and appliances. To get you work-ready, you'll apply your skills through 60 days of approved industry training.

Media is the glue of a modern society. It now shapes every aspect of life today. The Bachelor of Media at UNSW unlocks the specialist expertise, self-knowledge, creative thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to make an impact as a media professional, or simply set you up as a more aware professional to succeed in your second and third job, not just your first.

Media studies

The Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Media is a four-year double degree that shows you how to enlighten others with creative thinking and persuasive communications. Learn strategies to interest, inform, and inspire others while challenging conventions and designing new solutions to old problems.

Communications and Journalism (Major)
In choosing to specialise in communication & journalism for your Bachelor of Media at UNSW, you’ll be armed with the knowledge, skills, and experience you need to make your mark in journalism. Study and explore the different crucial developments, contexts, and practices of the media and communications industries—which will allow you to build a strong critical and practical understanding of the evolving communications landscape in relation to diverse contexts. By studying communications and journalism at UNSW, you’ll be empowered to demonstrate creativity, rigour, adaptability, independence, and cultural reflexivity as you produce content in a variety of modern media channels.

The UNSW Master of Engineering Science (Nuclear Engineering) is designed for students who want to understand nuclear concepts that form the foundation of our universe. This postgraduate degree teaches you the underpinning theory behind nuclear engineering techniques, technologies and processes.
