Cambrian College offers a two-year Truck and Coach diploma program that gives you the opportunity to get started towards your career, a career that will challenge you with new technology and provide the satisfaction that you know comes with rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done.

Our first and second-year Truck and Coach programs follow the Ontario College of Trades apprenticeship training standard. You will achieve the training and skills employers are looking for in an apprenticeship. We know you love to get into the lab because that is where you learn best. Our theory classes are also designed to bring the shop to you with more hands-on, demonstrations and models to enhance your learning experience.

Optional Paid Co-op
Our program features an optional, paid co-op directly related to your program of study. During this work-integrated learning experience, you’ll apply your skills and knowledge in an actual work environment, giving you industry training that you can showcase to potential employers when you graduate.

You will be required to complete work preparation sessions prior to the work term to help you develop an industry-specific resume and effective interviewing skills. Cambrian’s Career Centre will support you through this process and will also help you to source and apply for placement opportunities.

International students: Study permits prohibit international students from participating in optional co-ops. Take our general accounting stream to gain the skills and hands-on experience to land entry-level accounting positions.Following a first year of common curriculum shared by all accounting and business students, you will be immersed in accounting principles and practices.This program has been designed to accommodate students who want to continue their studies towards a degree.

Our environmental program is here to satisfy the interest individuals have in making a difference. The environmental field is a fairly unique field where workers can be doing the kinds of activities they find interesting, working outdoors, while doing a job that makes the world a better place. Our graduate certificate program aims to provide hands-on skills and applied knowledge to students with a theoretical background in the field.

Our focus is on environmental monitoring, particularly in fulfillment of Environmental Site and Impact Assessments. Knowledge, reporting and hands-on skills are important aspects of what we deliver.

The program’s emphasis is on environmental monitoring (air, water, soil, ecology) in support of industry requirements as well as part of Environmental Site/Impact Assessments. Learn from professors who are active in the field; being in Sudbury offers a unique perspective to learn firsthand the consequences of environmental impacts, and provides unique opportunities with on-going monitoring projects. The classroom component of the program is supported by a placement for ‘on-the-job’ training to ensure you obtain the necessary hands-on skills in the field.

Our graduates can be found working at top environmental and engineering consulting firms such as Golder and Associates, Wood/AMEC and Blumetric, government ministries, as well as in smaller firms and non-governmental organizations.

As a Developmental Services Professional, students are embarking on a rewarding career supporting children and adults experiencing life with physical disabilities, developmental and intellectual disabilities and dual diagnosis. Students will learn how to effectively use a person centered approach and positive behaviour supports to support behavioural, emotional, mental, physical and social needs. Students will also learn about the stages of human development, spectrum of disabilities, modes of communication, basic nursing and medication administration competencies and the range of community supports.

In addition, students will learn the value of working within legislative frameworks as it relates to positive behaviour supports, person centered supports, educational supports, crisis management and the constructing of a safe, respectful and quality life. Students will develop advocacy skills through relationship building and the critical thinking skills required to support individuals who live life with physical disabilities, developmental and intellectual disabilities and dual diagnosis.

Learning will be complemented by extensive hands-on experience gained through Field Placement opportunities, beginning with a Field Placement block in semester two and continuing with placements in semesters three and four.

Students will acquire the following skills from this program:

• Communication skills using alternate modes of communication: sign language, braille and a picture exchange communication system
• Professional competencies and the development of core and threshold competencies
• Development of formal and informal person and student centered plans
• Development of positive behaviour supports and instructional strategies
• Understanding and supporting individuals across the diverse spectrum of disabilities
• Advocacy for independence, self-determination, inclusion, belonging and citizenship

• Knowledge of medications, medication administration and basic nursing skills
• Facilitation of employment opportunities and entrepreneurship

Become an integral member of a healthcare team focusing on maintenance and rehabilitation of physical health, function and mobility. The Massage Therapy program at Cambrian College provides students with rigorous academic preparation, hands-on massage therapy and assessment skills, as well as clinical experience needed to become a successful massage therapist.

Students gain a deep knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy in order to help clients manage a variety of conditions that involve muscle, nerve, fascia, lymph and joints of the body.  Physical assessment and treatment planning as well as an introduction to research in the health sciences are key components of the Massage Therapy program.  The program offers instruction through in-class lectures, simulations and lab experience, as well as four on-site and three off-site clinical placements.  The off-site clinical placements are designed to give students an opportunity to practice massage therapy in diverse healthcare settings.

This advanced diploma emphasizes professionalism in healthcare. Massage therapists are regulated health professionals operating under the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the Massage Therapy Act.  Massage therapy in Ontario is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. 

Clinical Placement
Students must meet the following requirements to attend on-site clinical placements as well as community based placements.  Students will be responsible for any expenses incurred related to placement.

• Up-to-date and clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.  Individuals who have been charged or convicted criminally and not pardoned will be prohibited from proceeding to a clinical or work placement.  Students should obtain their Criminal Record Check three months prior to their first clinical placement so that it is current for the whole program.

Cambrian’s Global Business Management program is designed to prepare graduates from various educational and cultural backgrounds to perform managerial roles in global business organizations as well as domestic businesses who are engaged in cross-border business activities. This four-semester graduate certificate program delivers a curriculum that will give students an industry-focused skill set. The program covers all fundamental business functions, such as marketing, finance, organization behaviour, and business strategy in a global setting, to prepare graduates for general management roles in various industries across the globe. The program emphasizes leadership, critical analysis and problem solving, high-performance teamwork, business strategy, ?and managing in a cross-cultural environment.

Co-op Semester

• Students who have completed all courses with a CGPA of 2.0 or higher will be eligible for a 14-week minimum co-op.
• Students will also have an option to complete a capstone course in lieu of co-op if they choose do so.
