The flexible General Arts program offers you a two-year grounding in the arts. Build the program that interests you by choosing courses that fit your educational goals. You can also choose to specialize with five options within the Associate of Arts degree, including English, economics, social work or psychology.

The Engineering Graphics Technician (EGT) program is ideal for those with an interest in engineering/architectural visualization, an aptitude for computer aided design, or have a foreign credential in engineering /architecture and are looking to enter the Canadian job market.

The eight-month long Engineering Graphics Technician program includes a special emphasis in 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting. You’ll start with two terms on campus (14 weeks and 7 weeks), followed by a final, two-month internship work placement.

Choose from transfer courses in more than 30 different subject areas. These courses will transfer to at least one BC post-secondary institution.

Whether you want to take one or two courses at a time, or register for full-time studies with four or five courses each semester, the University Transfer program gives you the freedom to design your own timetable. Generally speaking, you'll probably start by taking 100-level courses (first-year) and follow up with corresponding 200-level (second-year) courses.

Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are front-line healthcare workers responsible for collecting human blood, body fluids, and physiologic data used by physicians to diagnose medical conditions. As part of the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team, Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are valued for their careful attention to detail and compassionate treatment of patients and clients.

Work in health care
The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year, entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences. This program prepares graduates for their role as integral members of the healthcare team by providing a broad foundation in laboratory science theory integrated with authentic simulation environments and workplace clinical practicums. Students learn to incorporate exemplary patient and client-centric behaviours while mastering the techniques of blood collection (phlebotomy), analytical sample collection, and sample preparation. Students learn to collect and process data required for diagnostic investigations.

What to expect

• The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year (ten months), entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences.
• Flexible pathways for progression and a variety of approaches to educational delivery prepare you for clinical practicum opportunities in both hospital and community based laboratories throughout Vancouver Island. Course delivery includes traditional face-to-face and blended classroom instruction, practical simulation labs, teaching clinic integrations, technology-enhanced applied learning, and on-line courses.
• You can expect to spend about one to three hours per day on homework, including weekends. Practicum placement locations are available throughout Vancouver Island. During your placement, you work four, 7-hour days, for up to seven weeks. You might be scheduled for days, evenings, or weekend shifts.

Work Experience :  7-week clinical practicum

Develop critical skills in public administration and governance including building relationships with diverse stakeholders and community groups. Through applied learning, you will experience different perspectives and objectives to consider issues in new and creative ways.

As a graduate, you are prepared to be employed in a variety of public administration settings. You can also choose to continue your education at Camosun with the Diploma in Public Administration or enrol in one of the School of Business diplomas or Bachelor of Business Administration programs.

The Music Performance diploma program is offered through a partnership between the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College. This program is designed to meet a heightened requirement for versatility in performance style. Increasing demand on artists to participate in creation, along with the quick implementation of music technologies to create, capture, and transfer music, indicates the need for non-traditional training.

This is a first-of-its-kind credential–one that deliberately blends practitioners of all styles in a common first year, proceeds with a highly specialized second year, and steeps the whole in a performance orientation.

The Music Performance diploma is offered over four 14-week semesters, running from September to early April over two years; select courses may be offered during spring/summer terms. You may elect to study full-time or part-time; however, you should be prepared to dedicate both daytime and evening hours to scheduled courses, and if you select a part-time option you should be aware that alternate-year delivery schedule of some courses may add significantly to the length of the full program. Courses are taught on the Victoria Conservatory of Music campus at 900 Johnson Street in downtown Victoria, or by distance learning.

Musicians of any musical genre will find a place in our innovative training environment. Classical, Contemporary (includes folk, jazz and rock), and cutting-edge musicians work side-by-side in the vibrant musical atmosphere of our campus at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. The Diploma in Music Performance will increase your personal strengths in music making through a balance of performance and hands-on application of practical skills. Intensive one-on-one studio instruction, group performance, music theory and contexts, music technologies, and career skills will give you the foundations for success in the 21st-century music profession.

Year 1:- A common first year for musicians of all genres will lay the ground work for future specialized study. Performance, music theory and contexts, aural skills, and music technologies are taught.
Year 2:- In the second year, you will choose areas of musical specialization. Areas of performance, contexts and creativity, composition, improvisation, performance practice, and stagecraft are emphasized.

You'll develop the background and knowledge to enter business or government in an accounting capacity. With your accounting diploma from Camosun, you can expect to be employed as an accounting technician or auditor, or in related positions in the accounting field. You can also continue to work towards your designation with the Bachelor of Business Administration.

Year 1: In the first year, you’ll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. Exit the program after your first year with a Certificate in Business Administration or continue on to year 2.
Year 2: In your second year, you'll work through management accounting, financial accounting, and corporate finance courses. Exit the program after Year 2 with a Diploma in Business Administration - Accounting Option.

Co-op/Internship options
To be eligible to participate in Internship or Co-op, you need to successfully complete a minimum of 8 first-year courses, obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and complete the workshop series COOP WEP, prior to your first work term (Internship) and all subsequent work terms (Co-op).

Year 1: In your first year, you’ll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. Exit the program now with a Business Administration certificate or continue on to Year 2.
Year 2: In your second year, you'll take courses in financial accounting, statistics, corporate finance, and business law. Exit the program now with a Business Administration diploma or continue on to Year 3.
Year 3: In your third year, you'll continue your studies in financial and management cost accounting, auditing.
Year 4: For your fourth year, you'll be taking courses in accounting theory, income tax, fraud awareness in order to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting major.

Camosun Culinary Arts offers one of the most successful Professional Cook Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) programs in Canada. COOK is a designated Red Seal trade credential; apprenticeship training is recognized across Canada and around the world.

Overview

The Professional Cook 1 (PRCO-401) program is offered with intakes in September, January and April and the Professional Cook 2 (PRCO-402) program is offered with intakes in September and January. Both programs are offered at the Interurban campus.

PRCO-401 is 28 weeks long, and upon successful completion you’ll be awarded the equivalent of technical training for PRCO-401 apprenticeship. PRCO-402 is offered over 14 weeks and upon completion you will receive the PRCO-402 technical training certificate and apprenticeship training. As a Professional Cook student you will be automatically registered with the Industry Training Authority (ITA).

Our e-pprentice program allows you to complete your apprenticeship online.

Culinary Artistry
You'll be trained in the many aspects of food preparation in modern industrial kitchens alongside professional standards of sanitation, personal hygiene, portion control, waste prevention, and nutritional considerations of common foods/diets.

What to expect
Professional Cook training uses an  applied learning approach to combine technical knowledge, supported by daily hands-on practice in professional commercial grade kitchen facilities.

You'll prepare and serve a variety of foods to staff, students and the public at the  Interurban Campus Cafeteria and ClassRoom Restaurant.Training is also provided on board the  Camosun Cuisine Machine,, the first post-secondary food truck classroom of its kind in Western Canada.

Professional Cook 1 (PRCO-100 or PRCO-401)
Professional Cook 1 is delivered over 28 weeks (7:30am-2:30pm Monday through Friday) and provides 600 hours of industry work-based training, technical training and certification assessment (practical and written).

For your apprenticeship, you will need to complete an additional 400 hours of practical work-based training (WBT) on your own by working in a commercial kitchen under a Red Seal certified Chef.

Professional Cook 2 (PRCO-200 or PRCO-402)
Professional Cook 2 is a 14-week full-time program, which runs from 1:30pm to 10pm Monday through Friday, and provides 240 hours of industry work-based training, technical training and certification assessment (practical and written).

For your apprenticeship, you will need to complete an additional 760 hours of practical work-based training (WBT) on your own by working in a commercial kitchen under a Red Seal certified Chef.
