This program offers you a selection of business courses that will give you a broad and contemporary view of the functional areas of business. During your year at Camosun, you'll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, management, economics, and marketing.

The flexible General Arts program offers you a two-year grounding in the arts. Build the program that interests you by choosing courses that fit your educational goals. You can also choose to specialize with five options within the Associate of Arts degree, including English, economics, social work or psychology.

What you'll learn
Camosun's General Arts associate degree program is offered by the School of Arts & Science. This two-year, 20-course program will give you a well-rounded education in the general arts.

As a graduate, you can choose to continue your studies with a bachelor's degree. You'll also be ready for any career that requires good communications skills and wide general knowledge. This AD can also lead to a full block transfer to Royal Roads University's Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication program.

Work experience option
As an Associate Degree student, you can gain practical work experience through Co-op or an Internship. Work terms may be paid or unpaid, and are available after you've completed at least eight courses.

Choose between one four-month internship or two work terms with co-operative education.

If you look around any urban area, most of what you see is the result of Civil Engineering. Learn how to plan, construct, and maintain structures and public works, while respecting and responding to the natural environment.

In this two-year program you’ll be introduced to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting techniques, surveying using state-of-the-art equipment, computer-based design systems and all aspects of project management. You’ll acquire the skills and knowledge you need for a successful career within the wide-ranging field of civil engineering.

In your first year, you'll learn the theoretical background necessary for civil engineering calculations. You will also learn skills such as AutoCAD drafting and surveying.
In second year, you will apply your background skills to civil engineering applications such as structural and municipal design, asset management, and properties of soils and materials. You will complete your program with a major design project of your own choosing.

Hands-on learning
Do you like looking at graphs? Do you enjoy disassembling things to see how they work or designing and building your own toys or gadgets? Our hands-on program will give you real-world technical problem-solving abilities. Your abilities in design and computer software will be a desirable asset to you as you advance in the workforce.
You'll have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and industry connections through our Co-operative Education and Internship programs.

• What to expect
  • Located at our Lansdowne campus, our program is two years, if taken full time. As a full time student, you'll take approximately five courses per semester. You can expect an additional 15 to 30 hours per week for homework, depending on your learning style.
  • Assessment occurs in all courses, and may include research papers, reflective journals, projects, presentations, and exams. It is a rigorous program with a combination of academic and hands-on practical experiences. You will develop leadership skills and participate in planning, advocacy and civic engagement activities to strengthen community.
    • Year 1 Your first year will include courses in lifespan development, family and community, professional practice, academic writing strategies, an introduction to community resources, and you’ll work with your classmates to develop and implement a project that contributes to the community.
    • Year 2 In your second year, you’ll take courses and gain experience in an off-campus practicum to enhance your relationship and support skills with an emphasis on diversity, current community issues and social justice. Practicum is a great place to begin to develop your professional reputation.

The Post Degree Diploma in Sport Management provides students with a combination of business and advanced sport management knowledge and competencies.  Designed for students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree, students will study foundational business courses alongside advanced sport management courses in the areas of event management, sport marketing and project management, sport analytics, sport organizational behaviour, and professional sport delivery.

Students will develop knowledge and capacities that will enable them to enter careers in sport related business, leadership, event, and program and project development positions in not-for-profit, corporate, and community sports environments at the local, provincial, national, and professional level.  

Graduates of this program will have studied analytical and strategic thinking concepts preparing them to practice professionally, responsibly, and ethically in the sport management industry.

You'll gain a solid business education and develop the practical skills that you will need to be successful in a range of marketing roles. 

Year 1: In the first year, you'll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. Exit the program now with a Certificate in Business Administration or continue onto the year 2.
Year 2: In your second year, you'll work through marketing research, creative selling, and entrepreneurship courses. Exit the program now with a Diploma in Business Administration-Marketing Option.

Co-op/Internship options
To be eligible to participate in Internship or Co-op, you need to successfully complete a minimum of 8 first year courses, obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and complete the workshop series COOP WEP, prior to your first work term (Internship) and all subsequent work terms (Co-op).

Gain advanced knowledge and practical application of the skills necessary to provide safe, effective and ethical massage therapy that meets the College of Massage Therapists of BC's entry-to-practice requirements. The Diploma in Massage Therapy is an intensive, cohort-based program. If you're caring and compassionate with a desire to help others, Massage Therapy could be your path to an exciting and fulfilling career.

Hands-on learning

• Our two-year diploma will prepare you to become independent, successful and professional massage therapy professionals.
• You'll have the opportunity to develop and refine your massage knowledge and techniques through classroom and lab learning along with clinical placements in the community or in our on-site clinic.

What to expect

• The Diploma in Massage Therapy is cohort-based and delivered over six consecutive 14-week terms. This program is part of the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education and is located on the Interurban Campus.
• You will learn to apply principles of physical, health and social sciences as they relate to massage therapy in the classroom, simulated environments and through clinical placements in the community or in our on-campus clinic.

Year 1:- You'll cover the basics of anatomy, physiology, pathology and neurology. You will build practical skills, assessment techniques and manual applications and complete your first clinical placement in term 3.
Year 2:- You'll learn about systemic treatment methods, medications, nutrition and self-care while developing your business management and research skills. You will also complete clinical placements each term.

The Camosun Advantage

Camosun’s Engineering Bridge programs are for technology diploma grads who want to continue with third year studies at UVic or UBC to finish an engineering degree. This is your next step to becoming a Professional Engineer.

Mechanical Engineers design and build machines and other products, such as robots, spacecraft, automobiles, artificial limbs, amusement park rides, elevators, and manufacturing equipment. If something moves or uses energy, mechanical engineering was probably involved in its design or production.

The Bridge to UVic study option is offered January through December. You'll start your third year of the Bachelor of Engineering degree program at UVic in January the following year.

Once accepted into UVic you will be required to participate in a mandatory Co-op, however, some work terms from your technology diploma may be transferable between institutions.

The modern office has changed considerably and not only because of technology. Roles have changed as the expectations of employers and the range of skills required in the office have increased, creating a need for trained administrative management. The Office Management diploma program gives you the practical office skills with administrative and management training along with a focus on human resource skills.

Career opportunities include Assistant to Executive/Manager, Office Manager, Administrative Assistant, supervisory level positions, small business owner, and/or positions in middle management.

The Computer Network Electronics Technician certificate program has a practical career-oriented approach, giving you the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to be able to install, repair, and maintain computers, servers, computer networks, and electronic systems.

Skills you'll gain
You don't need any previous knowledge of computers or electronics to enrol in this program. By the time you graduate, you'll possess a wide variety of skills, such as: installation and maintenance of computer networking systems; maintenance and repair of personal computers; maintenance and repair of server systems; analog and digital circuit assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance; installation, repair, and maintenance of microprocessor-based equipment; and technical sales support.

In addition, graduates of the Advanced Certificate will also have the skills to implement workstation security; install and maintain home automation systems; and configure and set up advanced servers.

Optional Co-op/Internship
The co-op or internship is an optional component of the program. It is paid work experience that can enable you to experience different employment fields and often leads to permanent employment.
