The Social Work Pre-Major consists of courses primarily focused on social sciences and humanities. Completion of the two-year Associate Degree prepares you for competitive admission into Year 3 in a Social Work degree program at many BC and Alberta institutions. This pre-major provides the first two full years of study toward your four-year degree. Your social work courses will be taken in the final two years of study.

The two-year diploma program is delivered in a combination of face-to-face and online courses and is is awarded to students who successfully complete the curriculum, a total of 60 credits. The program is designed to prepare you for a potential career in the field of criminal or social justice or to further post-secondary education such as a bachelor degree and is designed to facilitate maximum transferability to a full degree program after 2 years at College of the Rockies.

In the criminal and social justice diploma program, you will:

• Study theories of human and social behavior, criminal justice system and cultural and institutional roots of crime and deviance
• Learn about oppression and marginalization and will further their understanding of Indigenous peoples and Indigenous knowledge
• Develop effective skills in cross-cultural relations, communication, conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
• Be provided opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills to further your post-secondary education or to prepare for a potential career within the field of criminal and social justice.

The two-year Practical Nursing diploma program taken face-to-face at the Cranbrook campus prepares you to give professional care to individuals and families in a variety of health care delivery settings.

Are you passionate about exercise, sport, health, and human movement? Consider the Kinesiology program. Kinesiology is the study of the human body in motion and is a growing field that offers a variety of careers and educational opportunities.

All Kinesiology courses are delivered on a semesterized schedule from September to April of each year. Depending on availability of programming, some academic courses may be offered during the spring semester.

Most Kinesiology courses are delivered in the classroom with some available online. The one-year certificate transfers into Kinesiology degree programs throughout Western Canada. 

Engineering could be ideal for you. Our one-year certificate prepares you for competitive entry into year two of four-year Engineering degrees at either University of Victoria or University of British Columbia and may be transferable to other engineering programs as well.

Engineering is a great career for those interested in the physical structures and systems in our modern world. The work of an engineer involves analysis, design, planning, construction, and maintenance of structures and systems to ensure the reliable and safe use.

Our Block Transfer agreement with University of Victoria means that once you’ve successfully completed your certificate at the College, you will receive full credit for engineering at UVIC and will be on equal footing with UVIC student when it comes to competitive entry into second year.

The College of the Rockies Engineering Certificate is designed to satisfy the Year 1 requirements of undergraduate engineering programs at UVIC and UBC; it may also help you transfer into the engineering programs at other institutions.

This Engineering Certificate prepares you to apply for competitive admission to Year 2 programs; it does not guarantee a seat in those programs. You should always check with the receiving institution for details on course requirements and course transfer.

Employers are looking for environmentally responsible citizens who have a wide range of essential skills. The Environmental Studies certificate is designed to introduce you to those skills.

The Environmental Studies certificate is designed to allow you a degree of autonomy in your course selection. You will take a specific number of courses that deal with the environment along with options from a variety of subjects including geography, geology, anthropology and sociology.

This program is delivered in the classroom although a number of courses are also available online. Completion of the certificate may help you find employment in entry-level jobs or to move into further education to become more specialized.  We have transfer agreements with a number of Canadian universities. We recommend working with an Education Advisor when choosing courses for future transfer.

Accounting is a subject that deals with the entire process of collecting, recording, interpreting and carefully analyzing the financial details of an organization. Accounting deals with the facts and figures of a business and their effective management. College of The Rockies - Cranbrook Campus offers a two year long undergraduate Diploma in Business Management degree in accounting which explores a wide range of topics pertaining to accounting such as cash control, capital assets and cost behavior to corporate investment, fiduciary accounting and foreign operations.

Through this program students gain the considerable theoretical and practical knowledge about the field of accounting. The program is headed by an exceptionally qualified faculty who guide the students at every step of the way help them gain a better understanding of the concepts in accounting. Once students finish this program they can directly enter a BBA program or they can continue their education in a university or other professional institutions such as ACAF (Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance), CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), and CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources)

Students are allowed to engage in activities that sharpen their skill sets, fostering community building, studying the major theoretical concept and a positive attitude in order to build a bright future. The Recreation Management program helps prepare students to become leaders in the recreation and leisure services industry. This program opens up a number of professional doors for students such as event management experience, recreation programming simulation, inclusive recreation programming, job shadow assignments, guest speakers, volunteer assignments, site visits to recreation facilities and applied research.

In only 10 months, our Dental Assistant program can prepare you to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board exam prior to registering with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.

Our spring Preventative Clinic sees over 300 patients each year, providing you with plenty of hands-on experience. You will also take part in two three-week practical experiences in a dental clinic which will further prepare you for your rewarding career.
