This program provides you with the skills and knowledge to work with children and youth experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties. You will learn how to intervene and assess situations and formulate strategies to help children, youth, and their families identify and resolve concerns and enhance their quality of life.

The program covers the dynamics of human development within a multicultural perspective. Courses include child and adolescent development, special issues affecting child and youth care, and care for children who have emotional or behavioural difficulties.

This program includes training in relationship development, group process, and family dynamics. It also includes skill-oriented family support and intervention courses, child and youth care methods, listening skills, and activities programming.

The Truck Transport Technology program gives you the necessary skills required to diagnose and repair today’s truck transport vehicles. Training alternates between in class, live shop and work experience. Classroom instruction will broaden your knowledge in truck transport electronics as well as strategies required for diagnosis of engine management systems, fuel injection and abs brakes.

• Main subject areas include electrical diagnosis, electronics, ignition systems, engines, drive-lines, steering and suspension, brakes and fuel system.
• Second-year students will have the opportunity to be involved in chassis and engine dynamometer projects in areas of emissions analysis, cold weather testing of hybrid and electrical vehicles and engine performance.
• Upon graduation, students will receive a level two apprenticeship accreditation.

The need for expertise in international business is growing in Canada. The International Business program prepares you to meet the challenges of adapting to the global marketplace.

Small classes are taught by a team of professionals who have real business experience. They offer innovative projects designed to apply international business theory through case study and discussion. You will be given opportunities to listen to guest speakers and to participate in relevant conferences, seminars, and other events.

Student teams will work with a local enterprise to prepare a marketing plan for entry into a new foreign market. Your plan will be evaluated by a panel of judges.

You will be required to complete a minimum six-week work experience component (assistance provided by RRC).  

Health Care Aide

• This program develops the knowledge and skills you need to become a health care worker who, under the supervision of a nurse, assists hospital patients, personal care home residents, or home care clients. Health care aides help people to remain independent by assisting them with their physical, emotional, and social needs and their daily activities.
• You will learn about the expectations and responsibilities of the role and the knowledge and skills required to be a health care aide. You will study related topics including interpersonal communications, growth and development, gerontological care, and home care.
• You will have opportunities to gain experience in simulated laboratory settings at the College and in actual practice settings in health care agencies.

Health Unit Clerk
Take this program to acquire the knowledge and skills required to function as part of a health care team.

• Learn the roles and responsibilities of a Health Unit Clerk (HUC), including:
  • Maintaining patient and unit records
  • Processing physician orders
  • Processing diagnostic and laboratory orders
  • Managing unit supplies

Business Administration provides the student with a broad business foundation during the first year of studies. During the second year of the program, the student will declare a major that focuses their studies in a particular area, either Accounting, Administration, Financial Services, Marketing or Human Resource Management.

Some courses focus on theoretical foundations, others will emphasize application of knowledge. Group projects are integral to many courses offered in this program.

Prepare for a career as a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinist or general machinist.  Learn to set up and operate CNC and manual metal cutting machines, interpret engineering drawings, apply geometric dimensioning and use CAD software.

Graduates will be competent in the following:

• Applying safe and correct practices when handling tools and equipment
• Setting up and safely operating manual milling machines, lathes, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining and turning centers
• Interpreting engineering drawings
• Applying geometric dimensioning to verify component parts
• Using basic Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
• Studies consist of theory and practical training.

Gain the knowledge and skills needed to work in therapeutic and leisure recreational programming and services for older adults. You will learn to plan, promote, deliver and evaluate effective programs for clientele in various settings, including: personal care homes, extended hospital care, adult day centres, assisted living and other community based programs.

Workplace safety, privacy and health regulations are key components of the program. You will be taught by industry-experienced instructors through integrated workplace experience and two field work placements.

This post-graduate diploma program is designed to help students prepare for the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada designation. The program was developed from the CPA competency map that provides graduates with the opportunity to fill current and ongoing demand for accountants. Graduates can apply to use their post-graduate diploma credits for standing toward the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Students will gain a deeper understanding of accounting practices and principles; accounting management; taxation; communications; business law as it relates to finances and accounting.

This program develops the skills you require to assist dentists using four-handed dentistry techniques.
As a dental assisting student, you will learn about dental procedures, including the instruments, materials, and equipment used for each.  You will also learn how to prevent the transmission of disease/infection through infection control techniques, e.g. sterilization.  You will also learn basic laboratory skills, e.g. pouring models.  The program will also prepare you to work as an intra-oral assistant by developing skills to perform the following procedures:

• Polishing of teeth
• Application of fluoride
• Exposing radiographs
• Placement and removal of dental dam
• Placement of sealants
• Taking impressions
• Placement of matrices and wedges
• Application of liners, bases, topical anesthetic, and desensitizing agents
• Removal of sutures
• Fabrication and delivery of whitening trays and mouth guards

To broaden your skills and knowledge of business related procedures, you will study basic accounting, records maintenance, business correspondence, billings, and appointment control.
During the practicum, you will have the opportunity to work with dental students at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Dentistry and in a private general dental office, performing the skills you learned in the classroom, lab, and clinic.
