The Remotely Piloted Aircraft – Business Operations graduate certificate program will prepare you with operational and management skills for developing and sustaining businesses in a wide variety of industries. This includes agriculture, security, construction, mining, government, aerial photography, law enforcement, oil and gas, solar panels and cable power lines, etc.

This drones/drone flying program offers cross-disciplinary learning that includes leveraging business, entrepreneurial topics and flight operations including the study of law, privacy and ethics. Your experience includes flight training at AlteX Academy’s Drone Flight Field. When you graduate, you will be equipped with the ability to ethically and professionally utilize Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to meet business goals, whether you choose to support an existing business or start a business of your own. You will also be able to ensure compliance with service guidance, company policies and procedures to support RPAS industry safety.

A capstone research project will allow you to investigate, plan and take ownership of an idea that would benefit the use of RPAS. In addition, the program will prepare you to write the exam for the Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Advanced Operations Transport Canada certificate, which is mandatory to operate any drones above 250 grams in Canada.

Work Experience
Optional Work Term
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional work term(s) in a formal work environment. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and typically involves full-time work hours that may be paid or unpaid. In programs with limited work term opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream regardless of success in securing a work position.

In this four-year honours degree program you will develop accounting, finance, management, and technology competencies. You will learn how to prepare, interpret and analyze financial information and be on the path toward a professional accounting designation. Through this four-year degree program, you will be qualified to develop marketing strategies across traditional and emerging digital media and distribution channels, aspiring towards 360-degree customer engagement with campaigns grounded in marketing analytics. Students will study a range of marketing strategies, and profound expertise in business analytics and marketing insights.

You will also demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how marketing strategy fits into both the micro – and macro – business context.

In this two-year diploma program, you will learn about environmental technology, water resources and applied sciences to gain the problem-solving skills needed for success in the environmental sector.  As a graduate you will be training to work as an environmental technician within traditional and environmental engineering industries.

The program focuses on helping you develop critical skills, such as financial reporting, practical experience with accounting software packages and training in business communication.

Offered in cooperation with the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB) this program allows you to earn courses required for CIB's professional bookkeeping designation and prepares you for a career in bookkeeping and entry-level accounting.

Offered in cooperation with the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC), this program is anchored on the fundamental aspects of both business and insurance and was designed with experts from several national insurance firms. Your learning will focus explicitly on brokerage, underwriting and claims.

In this three-year advanced diploma program you will concentrate on the complexities that are involved in the movement and marketing of products and services internationally. You will build a foundation of general business knowledge and applications. Your learning will focus on the complexities of international trade that includes exporting, importing, international marketing, international finance, negotiation and entrepreneurship. You will also learn how to use industry leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, including SAP and other software.

The program offers a rich and diverse intercultural educational experience. You will learn your craft from faculty with current industry experience in international business. This program is accredited by Forum for International Trade Training (FITT).
