Designed for those wishing to enter a career in the technology industry, or for those wishing to pursue graduate studies, this degree consists of two years of general study, followed by two years of concentrated computing studies.

The BBA provides students with a demanding and engaging learning experience. In Years 1 and 2, they receive a strong grounding in the humanities and social sciences as well as the core business or business-related subjects.

In Years 3 and 4, students complete the core including the capstone course in business strategy in their final semester. Students also specialize in one of the functional areas of business. These majors prepare students to pursue a professional designation after graduation and provide the extensive course work needed to meet the competencies established by the profession. Students interested in economics can also specialize in that discipline, or those who want to take a variety of courses from different business disciplines or economics can choose the General BBA.

During their studies, students receive quality instruction from accomplished academics and business practitioners who engage in scholarship to remain current in their fields. Case studies, class presentations, guest speakers, field trips, company reports, simulations, and business competitions are used extensively to enhance the student’s learning experience.

The environment is a complex of biological, geological, physical, chemical, social and cultural factors that interact to influence the life of an individual or community. Our environment is threatened by global issues, such as overpopulation, climate change and habitat fragmentation. Many of these are issues caused by humans, and in turn they are threatening the well being of humans. The problems we face today are not solvable by science alone, but by an equal discovery and knowledge of culture, sociology, economics, politics and ethics.

Thompson Rivers University is ideally located to study environmental issues because of its proximity to a wide variety of diverse regional ecosystems. Kamloops is a city of about 90,000 people centred in the southern interior of British Columbia. The Thompson/Okanagan region and neighbouring Cariboo Plateau provide rare native grassland ecosystems, freshwater wetlands, lakes and rivers, and a rich diversity of forested ecosystems, all within easy access of TRU, as well as mountain and ocean ecosystems within a few hours' drive. The location of the university also provides collaborative potential with a number of neighbouring institutions and agencies, such as BC Ministry of Forests and Range, Agriculture Canada Research Station, BC Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, BC Grassland Conservation Council and Ducks Unlimited Canada.

The TRU MSc in environmental sciences program fills local, regional, provincial, national and international needs for environmental professionals. The program is designed to produce graduates who are innovative and have multi-disciplinary skills and broad knowledge in the field of environmental science. It is structured to be unique, flexible and relevant.

Acting, directing, theatre history and technical theatre courses offer students a full range of theatre options. In addition, students can acquire credit through their participation and performance in several major productions staged by the department each year.

Build a strong foundation in all aspects of biology with maximum flexibility. Students can choose courses to match their interests giving them the ability to tailor their education. The program involves extensive field and laboratory experiences.

This program explores the fields of mathematics and economics. The program equips students with the knowledge and an appreciation of ways in which mathematics and economics interactive to describe human behavior and our economy.

Students will acquire a strong foundation in tourism studies including tourism experience marketing, environmental issues, community and cultural issues, applied research methods, and product development and innovation. Building upon this base, students will then explore tourism experience management topics such as understanding and influencing tourist behaviour, business strategy, small business management, information technology, and managing service operations in a global setting. Students will also gain valuable field experience with a two-semester consulting assignment in a tourism-related organization.

Of interest to students who have a non-business degree, and who want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business or economics in order to enhance their employment opportunities. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

Economics and politics is "the study of choices" and so is concerned with all areas of our lives. It provides rigorous analysis of many real world subjects: government institutions, taxes, unemployment, financial markets, international trade, development, and economic growth but also poverty, crime, pollution, healthcare, education, the environment and many other areas.

The finance major is fun, interesting, and rewarding from a money income perspective. The profession is divided into two main fields: investments and corporate finance. Investments deals with a professional such as a financial advisor or money manager choosing to invest in GICs, stocks, bonds, options, futures, swaps, real estate, commodities such as gold or collectibles, to name a few. The primary goal is to make your client rich. Another purpose in wealth management is to minimize the risk of your client’s portfolio perhaps through the use of derivatives and their strategies such as butterfly spreads, call bear spreads, put bull spreads, collars, and straddles. Potential employers include banks, insurance companies, pension funds, private equity firms, hedge funds, and mutual fund companies among others.

The other field is corporate finance. Professionals here may focus on financing an organization's daily operations and future growth. Sources of capital to finance the firm include vehicles such as lines of credit, commercial paper, term loans, mortgages, bonds, leases, venture capital, and IPOs to fund seasonal build-ups in working capital and major asset purchases. Additional specialization in corporate finance may be cash management, accounts receivable management like collections, payables management, and working in mergers and acquisitions teams. Possible employers are corporations, not-for-profit firms, governments and their agencies.
