In Political Studies, we consider the many ways in which we use power in human societies.

We examine the philosophic and practical aspects of the use and abuse of power, combining insights from both the humanities and social sciences. Our Political Studies program embraces both the social science and humanities aspects of political analysis, adding depth to your studies. As a student of political studies, you will deepen your understanding of political science and explore your rights and responsibilities as a citizen and Christian.

You will explore the organization of government and how this influences the amount and distribution of social and economic resources. In addition, you will develop an understanding of government institutions, legislative processes, foreign policy, international relations, and public law.

Our political studies program includes practicum courses, giving our students valuable experience. Our students have the option of studying at TWU’s Laurentian Leadership Centre and interning in Ottawa or at Parliament Hill, and participating in our Pre-Law Society or Model United Nations.

Finance Specialization
Knowing what to invest and when to invest it, good financial advisors make the most of business resources. All corporate ventures are in need of money-savvy professionals. And because financial expertise is essential and often hard to come by, salary ranges typically start higher than other careers in business..

General studies allow students to learn from several disciplines at TWU, which ultimately provides them with a well-rounded liberal arts education. In addition, students who major in general studies take their interests beyond the usual disciplinary boundaries and have the flexibility to self-select which disciplines they want to focus on.

As a History student at TWU, you’ll become aware of the processes of change and the development of peoples, institutions, environments, and ideas over time.

Awareness of history is a prerequisite for informed citizenship and for understanding how to live as a person of faith in the world. Furthermore, government and business employers are becoming more concerned about understanding political issues, social problems, and public attitudes. TWU’s Laurentian Leadership Centre in Ottawa gives you an opportunity to study Canada’s history while also completing an internship that enables you to apply your historical skills in a government or industry setting.

Our students explore Jewish and Christian Scriptures, both historically and theologically, in order to gain an understanding of how these texts have profoundly shaped past and present communities of faith.

Led by our close-knit faculty of committed and active scholars in the Department of Religious Studies, our students are encouraged to broaden their understanding of Scripture and to investigate current critical issues within the discipline of Biblical Studies. Corporate Communication Specialization

The video game industry is massive and global, earning over $40 billion in the US alone last year. Market trends show it will continue to be a major employer of well-paid, highly skilled professionals.

Our unique Game Development program is unlike any other program. You will gain the technical skills you need to develop video games and knowledge about the entrepreneurial aspects of the business—all while gaining experience and developing your specialization in a range of team-based activities.

Beginning as early as your second year, you will work on three intensive projects to create and market video games. As in the industry, you will work within an entrepreneurial and interdisciplinary team environment to drive the projects from concept stage to promotion - creating business models and monitoring costs and revenues. In addition to building your portfolio through experiential learning, TWU’s liberal arts core and focus on holistic education will equip you to be a valuable contributor and leader in your field.

The International Business specialization equips students in the art of business leadership from a global perspective. An MBA with an international focus gives students the expertise and confidence to take their business career goals to a global level.

Students will be introduced to a range of business courses such as marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, economics, and operations. These fundamental business courses accompany student specialized international courses that provide students with an overall understanding of any professional business workforce.
