Through the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at UNB, you’ll learn the foundations of economics and how it shapes our world. You’ll learn how to explain economic phenomenon, analyze economic impacts, and recommend ways to solve complex economic problems.

Data science for finance: this is the best way to describe our Master in Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM) program. This one-of-a-kind one-year graduate program will prepare you for a specialized career in quantitative investment management. The program equips graduates with the fundamentals of finance knowledge combined with analytic and programming skills, as well as professional development competencies demanded by the finance industry. 

Quantitative Investment Management integrates tools from finance, economics, applied mathematics, statistics and computer programming to address problems in derivative securities valuation, dynamic investment strategies and risk management. These skills are sought by investment and commercial banks, trading companies, hedge funds, insurance companies, corporate risk managers and regulatory agencies. 

After completing the MQIM you will be qualified for positions such as: 

• Analyst 
• Data Scientist
• Portfolio or risk manager/associate
• Quantitative analyst or developer
• Trading associate

You will be qualified to work for pension funds, hedge funds, investment consulting firms, investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, and regulatory agencies, as well as any company that hires data analysts. Quantitative investment skills are in high demand! 

Learning the French language provides a wealth of opportunities for your future career and ignites a passion for culture, creativity, and expression. The Department of French welcomes students who wish to learn and perfect the language as well as pursue their studies in literature and linguistics.

We offer a range of courses in French Canadian literature, cinema, and culture, with an emphasis on Acadian and Québécois writers, as well as other Francophone literatures (i.e. France, Belgium, etc.).

Our linguistics courses explore the various expressions across French Canada. We also emphasize the phenomenon of human communication and how language shapes experience.

Drama is available as a concentration within the English major. The requirements for this program are that a student complete the normal English Major requirements in terms of both historical coverage and course restrictions as explained under Major in English, along with courses from relevant drama areas. Drama is also available as a minor within the Bachelor of Arts degree.

Arts is a four year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions.

In your first two years of Arts, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

• Concentration in Venture Commercialization, Scaling, and Investment: UNB's Faculty of Management is a hub for entrepreneurial learning. Chemistry is the study of the properties of the fundamental building blocks of matter, ranging in size from single hydrogen atoms to complex aggregates of biologically important species. Chemists prepare new compounds and study their composition and structure. This activity, coupled with studies of the way in which chemical reactions occur, allows theories on chemical bonding and reaction to be formulated.

Chemistry can provide the foundation for interesting careers in medicine and medical laboratory work. It can also lead to a career in pharmaceutical design and innovation, or genetic research. Chemistry provides the strong background needed to research and develop discoveries in countless real-world materials, from plastics to foodstuffs to modern materials used in housing, transportation, and computer technology.

The Chemistry program is available as a major, double major, minor or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science degree. The Faculty of Science is one of the university’s oldest faculties and was established when UNB was founded in 1785. The environmental geosciences provide earth-science students who have environmental or interdisciplinary interests with a background to pursue careers or graduate studies in environmentally related geoscience fields, especially in areas related to water resources, water contamination and remediation, oceanography and climate change.

Many earth scientists are interdisciplinary.

• Geochemists deal with the chemical make-up of everything from surface and ground waters to magmas and rocks in the earth's crust; with using geochemical techniques in the discovery of new mineral and energy reserves; and in addressing environmental concerns with the extraction of these reserves.
• Biogeochemists investigate the cycling through the global environment of chemical elements, from essential "nutrients" such as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus, to toxic metals such as mercury and uranium.
• Geobiologists are concerned with the paleontology, biogeography, and morpho-behavioural functional evolution of fossils; paleoecological aspects of ancient life forms, their history, and the evolution of life; and establishing a relative time frame for past geological and climatic events.
• Geophysicists measure and study the gravity, magnetic, and electrical fields of the earth; record and analyze seismic waves generated by earthquakes and man-made sources; and image subsurface water and hydrocarbon reservoirs and leakage.
