Data science for finance: this is the best way to describe our Master in Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM) program. This one-of-a-kind one-year graduate program will prepare you for a specialized career in quantitative investment management. The program equips graduates with the fundamentals of finance knowledge combined with analytic and programming skills, as well as professional development competencies demanded by the finance industry. 

Quantitative Investment Management integrates tools from finance, economics, applied mathematics, statistics and computer programming to address problems in derivative securities valuation, dynamic investment strategies and risk management. These skills are sought by investment and commercial banks, trading companies, hedge funds, insurance companies, corporate risk managers and regulatory agencies. 

After completing the MQIM you will be qualified for positions such as:

A Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BScF) is about trees, plants, water, and wildlife management – the atmosphere, soils, and landscapes. It’s about people’s beliefs and values. Why Forestry at UNB?
The BScF program at UNB is one of the oldest in Canada and has been offered for more than 100 years. We are the only English Faculty of Forestry in Atlantic Canada.

Hands-on learning
You will learn outdoors in our university’s forests, including the 1,500-hectare University Forest near the Fredericton campus. You will also collaborate on projects with the scientists and managers at the nearby Atlantic Forestry Research Centre and at the headquarters of the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources.

The Classical Studies program is designed for students who wish to study the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome either as a secondary interest (e.g. a double major) or as preparation for entrance into further professional studies (architecture, education, journalism, law, library science, museum studies). 

Classical Studies offers students the option of studying the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome with only minimal or no language study.  It is a perfect fit for those who wish to develop their interest in and knowledge of Ancient Greece and Rome but who do not wish to continue their study of ancient societies into a career or post-graduate study.

Psychology is the science of human thought, behaviour and emotion. All that we think, feel and do is a possible topic for psychological study. Psychology applies its knowledge to human activity in order to improve lives and alleviate suffering.

At UNB, we offer a broad spectrum of research areas in psychology, including: human sexuality, depression, feminist perspectives, Autism, women’s studies, internet and gambling addictions, gender and laterality, pain assessment and management, infant and adolescent development, cultural psychology, self-concept and identity, bilingualism and cognitive neuroscience.

The Film Studies Minor offers students from all faculties the opportunity to study film (and video) from a variety of perspectives, including theory, history, and analysis, as well as a range of topics around national cinemas and genres, among others. In addition, students have the opportunity to study film from creative and practical perspectives in production and other practice-driven courses as well as creative writing for the screen. Russian and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary major and minor program administered by a committee drawn from the departments involved in the program. Interested students should first contact the Director who is the representative from the Russian section of the Department of Culture and Language Studies.

PROGRAMS OF STUDY

  • A major in Russian and Eurasian Studies shall consist of a minimum of 30 ch of advanced level courses relating to Russia and the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. To qualify to enter this program, students must first have satisfactorily completed 6 ch in the Russian language at the introductory level (RUSS 1013 and RUSS 1023 ) and 6 ch at the intermediate level (RUSS 2013 and RUSS 2023). The 30 ch for the Major will be selected from the list below and must meet the following requirements:
