The Film Studies Minor offers students from all faculties the opportunity to study film (and video) from a variety of perspectives, including theory, history, and analysis, as well as a range of topics around national cinemas and genres, among others. In addition, students have the opportunity to study film from creative and practical perspectives in production and other practice-driven courses as well as creative writing for the screen. Do you want to explore and understand the impacts of humans on the environment and of the environment on humans? Do you want to learn to use the scientific approach to solve environmental problems?

Navigating the complex issues involved is a challenge that requires a broad range of skills and perspectives pertaining to earth’s environmental system: its biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and geosphere. This type of training is brought together at the University of New Brunswick through our interdisciplinary programs in the environmental sciences.

Accounting is the language of business. It tells you if you’re winning or losing – exploding or imploding. Accounting is the language you need to succeed.

You’ll acquire this language through UNB’s Accounting programs by learning how to record, interpret, and report economic data. Once you master this language, you’ll have the answer to key questions: Is your company succeeding or failing? Is it using its resources effectively? What changes should be implemented? What does its future look like?

We offer honours in accounting, which includes the courses needed to qualify for the professional level education program, which is required to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). We also offer a concentration in accounting.

Nurses are always in demand. If you’re passionate about caregiving and thrive in dynamic learning environments then nursing is the place for you. The four-year Bachelor of Nursing program comprises a majority of coursework in Nursing, as well as courses from other disciplines, including: English, Biology, and Psychology.

A Bachelor of Nursing from UNB qualifies graduates to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

Chemistry is the study of the properties of the fundamental building blocks of matter, ranging in size from single hydrogen atoms to complex aggregates of biologically important species. Chemists prepare new compounds and study their composition and structure. This activity, coupled with studies of the way in which chemical reactions occur, allows theories on chemical bonding and reaction to be formulated.

Chemistry can provide the foundation for interesting careers in medicine and medical laboratory work. It can also lead to a career in pharmaceutical design and innovation, or genetic research. Chemistry provides the strong background needed to research and develop discoveries in countless real-world materials, from plastics to foodstuffs to modern materials used in housing, transportation, and computer technology.

The Chemistry program is available as a major, double major, minor or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science degree. Software engineering goes beyond programming.  It’s about developing, writing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software systems. It’s the foundation of all computer systems. In other words, our digital world depends on software engineering.

In UNB’s Software Engineering program, you’ll learn how to develop and maintain reliable, safe, affordable, and efficient software systems that satisfy customer requirements. You’ll also gain the skills and knowledge needed to work on large and expensive software systems that often have safety-critical applications.  

Software Engineering is a joint program in the Faculty of Computer Science and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program is available as a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.

Physics is the most fundamental natural science, It examines basic concepts such as energy, force, and spacetime, and all that derives from these, such as mass, charge, matter and its motion. More broadly, it is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the world and universe behave.
Physicists want to really understand how the world works, in every detail and at the deepest level. Physicists study questions facing today’s science and technology and are at the forefront of solutions for instrumentation, measurement techniques, and model development in many areas.

Several recent national surveys have indicated that there is a shortage of physicists in almost all parts of Canada. This situation will become even more acute in the next decade, so physicists will continue to find good jobs.
