Biology is the science of life, and as a department we want to foster a fascination with the biological sciences, develop scientific literacy, and build a solid foundation for careers in biology and related professions. 

Contemporary biology asks many questions due to the vast scope of disciplines related to biological sciences, ranging from the smallest molecules and cellular components, to individual organisms such as microbes, plants and animals, to the larger environment, ecosystems and the biosphere. 

The Biology program is available as a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with majors and honours programs, or as a minor within range of interdepartmental programs.

The Law in Society program explores the intimate relationship between law and contemporary societies. The program allows students to study this relationship from an interdisciplinary perspective that may include the philosophic, historic, political, economic and sociological foundations of law. The Law in Society program is a superb preparation for graduate study in the humanities and social sciences, as well as for professional studies including law, public administration, policing, social work, and business.

The notion of global interdependence has become a central fact of today's post -modern world. The challenges faced by the emerging countries of the South have an immediate impact on life in Canada.

International Development Studies (IDS) is an interdisciplinary program made to address social, political, and economic issues facing the development of emerging countries in the Global South. The program includes selected courses from the Faculty of Arts at UNB.

IDS provides students with a holistic understanding of today's important issues including the North South dialogue, globalization, poverty, indigenous concerns, ethnic struggles, and sustainable development.

Bachelor of Arts
The IDS program is available as a major, double major or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. Arts is a four year program and covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions. In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

Hands-on learning
The IDS program provides students with the opportunity to participate in internship programs both at the local and international levels.

The Film Studies Minor offers students from all faculties the opportunity to study film (and video) from a variety of perspectives, including theory, history, and analysis, as well as a range of topics around national cinemas and genres, among others. In addition, students have the opportunity to study film from creative and practical perspectives in production and other practice-driven courses as well as creative writing for the screen. Political Science is the study of power in relationships.
From the micro-level of individual and group actions to the macro-level of government and international operations, political science seeks to understand behavior through rigorous analysis and by engaging with broad philosophical questions. Political science is a natural fit for those who find themselves frequently in political debates on social justice topics, or questioning the status quo.

• MBA in Sport and Recreation Management: Combine the MBA with your interests in Sport and Recreation Management and prepare for a career in professional or amateur sports, not-for-profit organizations, a recreation facility, resort or park. 

It is not the policy of the Science Faculty to set out rigid pre-professional programs. Each professional school has its own entrance requirements and it is necessary that the student ascertain these requirements in order to be sure of qualifying as a candidate for admission to that particular school. UNB does offer the courses necessary to qualify a student for entrance into professional programs.

Experience has shown that, where possible, it is highly desirable for the pre-professional student to obtain a bachelor’s degree before applying for entrance to the professional school.

Students interested in meeting the entrance requirements for any professional program should meet with an assistant dean for advice before selecting their courses.

Through the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at UNB, you’ll learn the foundations of economics and how it shapes our world. Data science for finance: this is the best way to describe our Master in Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM) program. This one-of-a-kind one-year graduate program will prepare you for a specialized career in quantitative investment management. The program equips graduates with the fundamentals of finance knowledge combined with analytic and programming skills, as well as professional development competencies demanded by the finance industry. 

Quantitative Investment Management integrates tools from finance, economics, applied mathematics, statistics and computer programming to address problems in derivative securities valuation, dynamic investment strategies and risk management. These skills are sought by investment and commercial banks, trading companies, hedge funds, insurance companies, corporate risk managers and regulatory agencies. 

After completing the MQIM you will be qualified for positions such as:
