Gender and Women's Studies gives students an opportunity to explore gender issues in an interdisciplinary context, and it offers a useful complement to other fields. The required courses provide a framework for understanding the gender-based aspects of knowledge, power, and society.

Gender and Women's Studies represents a new approach to knowledge; it examines the gender-based aspects of human experience and women's roles in society. Gender and Women's Studies includes a wide variety of academic disciplines and professions.

Bachelor of Arts
The Gender and Women's Studies program is available as a major, double major or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. Courses in the Faculty of Arts cover a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions. In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

Russian and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary major and minor program administered by a committee drawn from the departments involved in the program. Interested students should first contact the Director who is the representative from the Russian section of the Department of Culture and Language Studies.

PROGRAMS OF STUDY

• Major in Russian and Eurasian Studies
  • A major in Russian and Eurasian Studies shall consist of a minimum of 30 ch of advanced level courses relating to Russia and the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. To qualify to enter this program, students must first have satisfactorily completed 6 ch in the Russian language at the introductory level (RUSS 1013 and RUSS 1023 ) and 6 ch at the intermediate level (RUSS 2013 and RUSS 2023). The 30 ch for the Major will be selected from the list below and must meet the following requirements:

The Faculties of Arts and Science at UNB in Fredericton work together to offer a combined arts and science four-year degree program. The BAS is a joint degree in Arts and Science. It provides you with an in-depth scientific education, as well as an understanding of people and the analytical and critical thinking skills acquired in an Arts degree.

The Film Studies Minor offers students from all faculties the opportunity to study film (and video) from a variety of perspectives, including theory, history, and analysis, as well as a range of topics around national cinemas and genres, among others. In addition, students have the opportunity to study film from creative and practical perspectives in production and other practice-driven courses as well as creative writing for the screen. Investigating these and other questions, such as the nature of time, the relation between body and mind, how we define good and bad, is a conversation that draws from great thinkers-­â€-­â€past and present. This four-year program combines the reasoning, research and writing skills offered in a traditional liberal arts education with the hands-on studio arts courses offered by one of Canada's most respected fine craft schools, the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.

You will complete two years at both UNB Fredericton and NBCCD and have the choice of starting at either institution.

The Law in Society program explores the intimate relationship between law and contemporary societies. The program allows students to study this relationship from an interdisciplinary perspective that may include the philosophic, historic, political, economic and sociological foundations of law. The Law in Society program is a superb preparation for graduate study in the humanities and social sciences, as well as for professional studies including law, public administration, policing, social work, and business.
