The Pre-MBA Program is full-time, intensive, non-credit program offered by Saint John College and UNB Saint John's Master of Business Administration program. It is designed to help international students bridge the gap between their undergraduate education, work experience and the entry requirements of UNB Saint John's MBA program.

The Pre-MBA program is designed for international students who have been conditionally accepted to the UNB Saint John MBA Program but who need to increase their level of English language ability and/or gain work experience.

Anthropologists study humans: who we are, what we do, what we say, what we look like, and what we believe in.

At UNB, Anthropology is a holistic discipline, meaning you’ll examine humans, both past and present, as biological, cultural, and social beings. You’ll explore three central subfields – sociocultural anthropology, archeology, and biological anthropology – and you’ll have access to our expanded lab facility that includes a vast collection of human, hominid, and primate teaching specimens.

We use a range of learning styles and innovative teaching methods, and we incorporate findings from our research. Our small class sizes mean greater interaction between you, your instructors, and your peers.

Physics is a disciplined way to reach objective conclusions about how nature works. It is about finding out what is real. And then, armed with this new knowledge, predicting the future. Physics provides an opportunity for us to set aside our emotions, our beliefs, our preconceived notions, and our prejudices. In return, we can find answers to our questions and learn something meaningful about how things work in the universe.

We need this organized approach because humans are easily fooled. We would like to think that that is not true, but it is. Arriving at a conclusion, however, is not at all a strictly ridged mechanical process. A great amount of careful thought, inspiration, and leaps of intuition are needed.

At the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, we offer first-year courses on the theoretical foundation of physics as well as the experimental proof of critical parts. Non-science majors can choose courses in astronomy or space studies, where you'll learn how the human species explores and exploits the cosmos.

Linguistics courses offer insights into the relationship between the brain, mind and language. By studying linguistics, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to understand foreign languages and the difficulties foreign students encounter in English and French. 

Linguistic courses complement programs in Education, English, Languages, Psychology, Philosophy, Social Science, and Computer Science. Linguistics is a requirement for Speech Therapy, TESL, and other programs related to language processing and language engineering.

What you'll learn
This program provides students with a solid knowledge of basic concepts that form the foundation of linguistic theories including:

• The modules of grammar (phonology, syntax, semantics).
• The relationship between cognition and language (psycholinguistics).
• The relationship between brain and grammar (generative grammar.
• Mental processes involved in the acquisition of the first and second languages.

Our BScEC program will introduce you to the function and roles of Canadian and global economies, and the tools economists use to analyze the decisions made by individuals and businesses. Our BScEC graduates are well-qualified for jobs in economics or finance, or the pursuit of graduate studies in either field.

Bachelor of Science at UNB Saint John:-

At UNB Saint John you’ll explore how the world works with Bachelor of Science programs that delve deep into the principles that support our universe, from the diverse ecosystems in our rivers and oceans to the pure mathematical theories that explain time and space.

Scientific research has made great advances in the past 20 years and at UNB Saint John you’ll have the opportunity to learn and experiment in small classes led by instructors passionate about science and the theoretical and practical knowledge it imparts.

Mechanical engineers work with systems that transform energy and material to useful ends.

Combining the principles of physics with engineering, mechanical engineers design, develop and analyze machines, including:

• Medical devices
• Heating and cooling systems

The majority of mechanical engineers work in manufacturing and industrial plants, improving system performance, including increased emission and other environmental controls.

What is gender and how has its definition changed over time and place? How has gender been represented through literature and other media? And how exactly do we bring about change in gender relations in the world?

These are a few questions the Gender Studies program on UNB’s Saint John campus will address, by focusing heavily on concepts such as feminism, masculinity, queer studies, and transgender studies.

The Engineering programs are based on Department course credit requirements established by the Faculty of Engineering as detailed in Section G of this Calendar. The courses available will satisfy up to one-half of the total course requirements for Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering. Geological, Forest and Geomatics Engineering students may obtain approximately one-quarter of their total course requirements.

Geological engineers merge earth sciences with engineering principles to determine what lies underground. Working primarily in the mining and mineral extraction sectors, geological engineers oversee the stability and safety of mines and of drilling sites, particularly of oil and natural gas wells.

This includes:

• Stabilizing the site against landslides and other ecological disasters
• Protecting groundwater supplies from contamination
• Ensuring all work is conducted in an environmentally sustainable way

The multidisciplinary International Studies program at UNB’s Saint John campus is about exploring the diversity, complexity, and interdependence that make up our modern world. It’s about placing our society, politics, history, culture, and economics under a microscope in an attempt to understand contemporary global issues, such as food distribution, gender roles, and disease control.
