The University is a member of the TRIUMF subatomic physics laboratory in Vancouver, and has a close relationship with the Jefferson Laboratory in Newport News, Virginia, USA. As of January 1, 2010, the University became a member of the Southeastern Universities Research Association. This honour was in recognition of two decades of productive research by U of R physicists at Jefferson Lab.

A two-year, 72-credit-hour program of studies, the Diploma in Indigenous Communication Arts (INCA) is offered through the First Nations University of Canada’s Department of Indigenous Communication and Fine Arts. .

Indigenous Communication Arts (INCA) provides academic training and professional experience that supports the entry of Indigenous people into all areas of the communications industry, including Indigenous and mainstream media and public relations. INCA graduates are also eligible to apply to the University of Regina School of Journalism.

INCA prepares students by requiring that they complete courses including Indigenous history and politics, oral traditions, community-based research, business management, traditional and contemporary communication systems, languages, and art. INCA students master basic skills needed for reporting for print and broadcast media and the web and can also study strategic communication planning for public relations.

To qualify for admission to INCA, students must be eligible for admission to the First Nations University of Canada/University of Regina. Proficiency in English must be well above average, and it is strongly recommended that applicants have basic computer skills. Upon being accepted by First Nations University of Canada/University of Regina, students must contact the Faculty or the Department of Indigenous Communication and Fine Arts  which will provide academic and professional advising.

The Department of Computer Science offers programs of study involving interdepartmental, multi-institutional and inter-institutional collaboration that has attracted faculty members and graduate students from all over the world. Students may pursue full-time or part-time graduate study leading towards the MSc and PhD degrees.

The MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science focus on four main areas of research: artificial intelligence; databases and information retrieval; graphics, image and audio processing; multimedia, and software engineering. Specifically, active research topics conducted by faculty members include, but are not limited to:

The Master's thesis route requires students to pursue research supported by the Department of Computer Science. Master of Science in Biology (Thesis)

The Department of Biology has expertise in ecology and evolution, cell and molecular biology and organismal physiology/biochemistry. Our field station is located in the picturesque Cypress Hills of southwestern Saskatchewan, and is used for both field-based research and for upper-level courses. We are also home to the Environmental Quality Analysis Laboratory (EQAL), which houses stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers and other equipment for the analysis of varied environmental parameters. As well, the Department of Biology has modern facilities for molecular biology and related disciplines, is home to the George Ledingham Herbarium and to a modern aquatics facility for housing a variety of aquatic vertebrates. Our faculty and students conduct research in a wide variety of locations across Canada and elsewhere, and have national and international collaborations. The Biology Department also has close connections and collaborations with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and with various local, provincial, and national agencies.
