Agronomy is a science that finds ways to grow crops more efficiently and profitably while protecting the environment. Agronomy affects us all through the food we eat, the coffee we drink, the ethanol-based gas we use to power our vehicles and the natural fibers in the clothing we wear.

What you will learn
You will examine ways use natural resources efficiently, sustainably and profitably to produce food, feed, fibre and fuel. You will take courses from several disciplines and learn to approach agronomic issues from several different perspectives. You will acquire an understanding of the biological, ecological and economic principles of crop production and soil management, as well as an appreciation of the short and long term effects of agricultural production on the environment.

Discover some of the roots of the modern world by examining the development of culture and thought from Graeco-Roman antiquity through the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance. Explore, understand and appreciate ancient languages and the literature, art, ideas, and historical movements that informed Western civilizations.

What you will learn
You will examine the development of European cultures and societies between 700 B.C. and A.D. 1600. An understanding of these societies requires the integration of three dimensions: the historical (including archaeology and the history of society and politics); the intellectual (including philosophy, science, and religion); and the cultural (including languages, arts, drama, literature, and architecture). You will apply this understanding to a particular discipline and period of cultural tradition.

Whether you have a business idea or want to drive change in your workplace, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship (CENT) eight-course program encourages you to think outside the box. Foster your creativity, drive change in the workplace, and master the business skills needed to bring your idea to market.

This certificate is offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business. You may earn the certificate on its own, while pursuing a degree, or after graduating university.
If you are interested in pursuing a degree in business, the Edwards School of Business offers a Bachelor in Commerce with majors in: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.

The Bachelor of Education program is designed for future educators wanting to teach students in a variety of educational institutions, including K to 12 schools. You will specialize in two teaching areas to concentrate your expertise in specific subjects.

Program options
The Bachelor of Education degree is offered by the College of Education. You have two options when completing this program:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Early/Middle Years Program
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Secondary Program

Secondary
If you want to teach students in Grades 9 through 12, choose the Secondary level. You will specialize in two teaching areas to concentrate your expertise in specific high school subjects.

As part of your Education degree, you will choose two teaching areas in which to specialize. These subject areas are closely aligned with Saskatchewan pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum areas:

Economics is the science describing the production and distribution of wealth. Business Economics provides you with a background in both economics and commerce, with special emphasis in economics, so as to prepare you for the world of business, finance, and public service.

What you will learn
This program will provide you with knowledge and the tools to comprehend, assess and analyze the many pressing issues and problems of individuals, businesses and society in an economic context.

The Edwards Master of Business Administration program is a transformational experience that focuses around teambuilding, leadership and business strategy. You will learn the people skills of management such as how to manage, how to communicate effectively, and how to lead. Our students develop management skills that are both integrative and strategic, gaining a deeper understanding of organizations and their local and global context. Graduates then enter their professional endeavors with confidence, integrity and accountability. Faculty and colleagues within the Edwards MBA program will become valuable business contacts and life-long friends.

The Edwards MBA Internship Program (EMIP) is an 8-month work experience which starts in January of the 1st year of your MBA degree. If you're admitted to EMIP, and you're successful in securing a placement, you must agree to complete your MBA over a minimum of two years.

The program is designed for students with little or no work experience in their desired field. An internship is a value-added component of the Edwards MBA Program where you're provided with an opportunity to implement the business theory and concepts from your MBA coursework. Work placements also provide increased opportunities for learning, mentorship and post-graduation employment.

You will discover that philosophy touches on almost every area of study, as all major developments in biology, economics, mathematics, physics and psychology started out as philosophical hypotheses. You will examine morality, the nature of the mind, and the structure of human thinking and you will engage in critical and creative thinking about fundamental questions, such as what is meant by a worthwhile life, what sense there is to the universe, what it means to be a good person, and what makes a just society.
Philosophy is an especially beneficial area of study for students who want to do any kind of work that requires good language and reasoning skills, including the ability to formulate good arguments and to critically appraise statements and problems. Philosophy students often go into law, but they are also successful in any field that needs clear thinking and good communication. Journalism and media, business, and education are also common career paths. Many institutions also require individuals with expertise in ethical reasoning, and many students will find that taking a double honours degree or minor in philosophy alongside an allied field will enhance their performance in that other field. Students in philosophy also tend to score very highly in post-graduate admissions tests.

Mathematics is the study of structures, patterns, and the use of formal reasoning to enrich our understanding of the world. It can be is used to predict patterns of societal behaviour, design immense structures, analyze disease transmission and build models of national economies. Mathematicians contribute to the formulation and solution of problems in diverse fields such as medicine, economics, computer science and engineering.

What you will learn
Studying mathematics will teach you how to think critically and use logic to solve a surprisingly wide variety of problems in fields such as the physical sciences, economics, biology and many others. You will learn to reason about numbers, shapes, and relations. Using these ideas you will model features of the world with the aid of tools such as differential equations, networks, algebraic structures and much more.

Geology is the study of the Earth, from the highest mountains to the core. Geology examines phenomena such as earthquakes, volcanoes, glaciers, mountains, shorelines, minerals, mantle convection, Earth's magnetic field, plate tectonics, the evolution of life through time, and global climate change and its impact on the past and future development of the Earth.

What you will learn
Investigate episodes of ancient and modern environmental catastrophes, examine chemical and isotopic signatures in rocks to trace the natural processes that have shaped Earth and participate in the discovery of new energy and mineral resources. You will study Earth’s evolution and gain a better understanding of the physical, chemical and biological processes that affect the development of Earth.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Bachelor of Education Combined Program has been re-envisioned and newly integrated for 2020-2021. This five-year program is designed for students who intend to teach physical education at the secondary level. Students in the combined program will receive the benefits of being in the Colleges of Education and Kinesiology for all five years of the program.

The advantage of this combined degree program is that you will graduate in five years with two degrees with a concentrated knowledge of teaching physical education to high school students.

Students who are currently in the College of Kinesiology (admitted in 2019-2020 or before) will still complete three years of the program in the College of Kinesiology before enrolling in the College of Education to complete the last two years of the program.

What you will learn

• The Combined Kinesiology/Education program is designed so you will graduate in five years with two degrees.
• To ensure you will be a well-rounded teacher, you will specialize in a second teaching area in addition to physical education.
• From 2020-2021 on, students can apply for the direct-entry B.Sc. Kin./B.Ed. combined program to take both Education and Kinesiology classes in all five years of the program. Admission into this program is competitive. There are 30 seats available. One Indigenous equity seat is available for students of Canadian Indigenous descent.
• Only those students who were admitted to the College of Kinesiology in 2019-2020 or before will spend three years of study in the College of Kinesiology then apply to enter the College of Education to complete the last two years of the program. Admission into this program is competitive.
