What you will learn
You will study performance, composition, music theory, history and literature. You will develop advanced skills with applied study in piano, voice, brass, winds, strings or percussion. You will examine the history of music which will provide you with a rich perspective into music, composers’ lives and their contributions to musical traditions, styles, genres and forms of composition.

Geophysics is the application of physics to problems in Earth science. Geophysics is widely used in any situation where information on the subsurface is required—for example, environmental assessment and remediation, civil engineering, oceanography and space exploration.

What you will learn
You will study the earth’s interior using techniques based on physics and mathematics. You will participate in a field school that covers the complete range of geophysical tools including seismology, gravity, magnetics and electromagnetic methods which are used extensively in the search for natural resources. You will learn about the physics of earth processes like earthquakes and how to mitigate risks of natural hazards.

Economics is the science describing the production and distribution of wealth. Business Economics provides you with a background in both economics and commerce, with special emphasis in economics, so as to prepare you for the world of business, finance, and public service.

What you will learn
This program will provide you with knowledge and the tools to comprehend, assess and analyze the many pressing issues and problems of individuals, businesses and society in an economic context.

Engineering physics is a bridge between pure and applied science, utilizing fundamental concepts in today’s rapidly changing and highly technical engineering environment. An engineering physicist is motivated by the application of science for advancing technology and sustainability.

• We’ve redesigned first-year engineering at USask to help you succeed and make engineering more fun. We call the new first year RE-ENGINEERED. It’s the only program of its kind in Canada. It will get you excited and inspired about engineering.
• In RE-ENGINEERED, instead of high-stakes exams, you will do more assignments and quizzes so you can improve your mark if you stumble early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so you can get help when you need it. And instead of final exams, you will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.
• You will choose your engineering specialty – known as your major, or discipline – at the end of your first year. This is the area you will study in-depth in your upper-years classes.

Geological engineers connect the worlds of nature and engineering. They apply engineering principles to the natural materials and fluids found in the earth, including rocks, soils, groundwater, petroleum and natural gas.

Discover some of the roots of the modern world by examining the development of culture and thought from Graeco-Roman antiquity through the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance. Explore, understand and appreciate ancient languages and the literature, art, ideas, and historical movements that informed Western civilizations.

What you will learn
You will examine the development of European cultures and societies between 700 B.C. and A.D. 1600. An understanding of these societies requires the integration of three dimensions: the historical (including archaeology and the history of society and politics); the intellectual (including philosophy, science, and religion); and the cultural (including languages, arts, drama, literature, and architecture). You will apply this understanding to a particular discipline and period of cultural tradition.

This program examines human behaviour, institutions and culture in order to reveal and analyze the gender assumptions on which they are based. It examines the changing positions of women and men, gender nonconformity, queer studies, activism and the evolving understanding of gender.

What you will learn
You will examine the portrayal of femininities and masculinities in advertising, news media, literature, art, music, pornography, religion and films. You will study the relation between biology and gender constructions, gendered patterns of language use, the role of gender in processes of identity formation and socialization and women's changing economic and political roles.

Gain a broader understanding of different cultures, the literature of their area and the structure and functioning of languages through linguistics. With globalization progressing at a rapid speed, dealing with people from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds will become increasingly important, both in our professional and personal lives.

What you will learn
You will be combining two (or more) languages in conjunction with courses in linguistics and comparative literature. You will gain a broader understanding of different cultures, the literature of your chosen area and the structure and functioning of languages through linguistics. The primary language course options include French, German and Spanish.

Agronomy is a science that finds ways to grow crops more efficiently and profitably while protecting the environment. Agronomy affects us all through the food we eat, the coffee we drink, the ethanol-based gas we use to power our vehicles and the natural fibers in the clothing we wear.

What you will learn
You will examine ways use natural resources efficiently, sustainably and profitably to produce food, feed, fibre and fuel. You will take courses from several disciplines and learn to approach agronomic issues from several different perspectives. You will acquire an understanding of the biological, ecological and economic principles of crop production and soil management, as well as an appreciation of the short and long term effects of agricultural production on the environment.

Through innovative programming, integrated on-campus and field study opportunities, and the support of experienced and caring faculty, you will be prepared to succeed from the first day of classes through to graduation.

What you will learn
The Bachelor of Education program is designed for future educators wanting to teach students in a variety of educational institutions, including K to 12 schools. You will specialize in two teaching areas to concentrate your expertise in specific subjects.

Program options
The Bachelor of Education degree is offered by the College of Education. You have two options when completing this program:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Early/Middle Years Program
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Secondary Program

Early/Middle Years
If you want to teach students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, choose the Early/Middle Years level. The curriculum offers a general approach to various subjects to provide wide exposure to the subjects and teaching methods you will use in early years and middle years classrooms.

As part of your Education degree, you will choose two teaching areas in which to specialize. These subject areas are closely aligned with the Saskatchewan pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum areas:
