What you will learn

Animal bioscience is the study of animal metabolism, genetics, physiology, nutrition, behaviour, care, health and the social and environmental impact of domestic animals

What you will learn
Do you have an interest in domestic animals? You will have opportunities to learn through experience in working with animals. This program meets the pre-veterinary medicine requirements and prepares you to work in fields outside of traditional animal agriculture including biomedical sciences, companion, equine and research animal care, animal health and environmental sciences.

Discover your true potential as a musician, teacher, composer or music theorist. Develop your abilities with individual private lessons in applied study on piano, voice, brass, winds, strings or percussion with nationally and internationally trained instructors.

What you will learn

• You will study performance, composition, music theory, history and literature, and both elementary and secondary music education. You will receive weekly private lessons and ensemble experience every year. You'll engage in significant student-teaching experiences throughout your degree and an extensive internship in the second year of your Bachelor of Education-Sequential Music program.
• Once you are finished your Bachelor of Music - Music Education degree in the College of Arts and Science, you will be accepted automatically into the College of Education so that you can complete a Bachelor of Education - Sequential Music degree in two years. This allows you to finish two degrees in six years.

Sustainable use of our land, water and plant resources is increasingly recognized as a key societal goal. Resource Science provides essential skills and knowledge in applied sciences and resource management which can be used to influence sustainable development such as rejuvenating disturbed land or reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landscapes.

What you will learn
The Resource Science specialization provides you with hands-on, practical experience in field measurement and assessment. You will learn about:

• Environmental site assessment and soil landscape relationships
• In-field understanding of the spatial relationships of ecosites and soil units
• Remediation and reclamation practices
• Analysis and aggregation of field data
• Application of ecological land classification

Study the histories of the visual arts which include photography, sculpture, painting, architecture, video, performances, installation, film, and digital imaging, among other media.

What you will learn
In addition to studying more traditional art history such as Renaissance and Baroque art you will be exposed to such areas as First People's Art History; Postcolonial Issues in Contemporary Canadian Art; Art of the Internet; Contemporary Performance Art Theory and Praxis; and Studies in Visual Culture. You will learn how visual forms from painting to film to the Internet and popular media, produce meaning in contemporary everyday life.

Anthropology is the comprehensive study of human beings, past and present, in comparative, cross-cultural, and holistic light. Archaeology is a sub-discipline of Anthropology that focuses on the study of artifacts and other physical remains of past peoples in order to explore adaptation and cultural diversity over time. The Archaeology and Anthropology program at the University of Saskatchewan offers training that emphasizes the role of culture in past and present human behaviour and diversity, and that exposes students to human evolutionary, environmental, and social development and adaptation. The program demonstrates particular expertise in medical anthropology, environmental anthropology, applied (practicing) anthropology, anthropological archaeology, environmental archaeology, and bioarchaeology. We emphasize community-based and engaged learning, a commitment to reconciliation, and a broad disciplinary foundation in both anthropology and archaeology.

Statisticians can analyze and draw practical conclusions from data and provide crucial guidance in determining what information is reliable and which predictions can be trusted. Many economic, social, political, and military decisions cannot be made without statistical techniques.

Environmental biologists examine ecosystems with a focus on how living organisms interact with their environment. This program is relevant for today’s society which is facing complex environmental issues such as conservation and environmental contamination.

You will study the basic science of environmental biology and ecological theory and learn about complex environmental issues facing our society. Areas of emphasis are biodiversity, conservation, ecological processes at the levels of genes to communities to landscapes, environmental contamination and other aspects of applied ecology.

Computer science studies the theory, design, development and application of software and software systems in a wide range of fields from artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction to computational modelling and computer graphics.

What you will learn
You will learn about a wide range of topics including design and maintenance of software systems, distributed systems, human-computer interaction, computational modeling, artificial intelligence, mobile computing, programming languages, image processing, and computer graphics. You will learn to combine creative problem solving and analytical skills to create practical and innovative software.

Bioinformatics combines biology, biochemistry, mathematics, statistics and computer science for analyzing and understanding the biochemical processes of life. If your passion is understanding biological processes, genetics, or diseases using biological information, this program would suit you well.

You will learn specialized computational techniques for storing, visualizing, and analyzing data generated from genome sequencing projects and technologies for determining gene expression and protein structures. You will be able to deduce information about an organism from its genome.
