This certificate is offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business. You may earn the certificate on its own, while pursuing a degree, or after graduating university.
If you are interested in pursuing a degree in business, the Edwards School of Business offers a Bachelor in Commerce with majors in: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.

What you will learn

Discover some of the roots of the modern world by examining the development of culture and thought from Graeco-Roman antiquity through the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance. Explore, understand and appreciate ancient languages and the literature, art, ideas, and historical movements that informed Western civilizations.

What you will learn
You will examine the development of European cultures and societies between 700 B.C. and A.D. 1600. An understanding of these societies requires the integration of three dimensions: the historical (including archaeology and the history of society and politics); the intellectual (including philosophy, science, and religion); and the cultural (including languages, arts, drama, literature, and architecture). You will apply this understanding to a particular discipline and period of cultural tradition.

Study the evolution of theatre and learn the practice of acting, directing, stage management, writing, costume design, lighting and sound production.

What you will learn
You will learn to act for theatre, film, radio and television and explore the directing process through coaching, conducting auditions and developing rehearsal schedules. Develop your talents as playwrights, stage managers and designers as you learn to construct stage sets, design costumes and gain hands-on experience with lighting, sound production and stage management for on-campus performances. You will engage with every aspect of the theatrical process as you learn the theory and evolution of theatrical production.

Chemical engineers – also known as process engineers – are practical chemists who solve problems or create useful products. They research, design, and develop chemical processes and equipment while seeking to reduce our impact on the environment.

What you will learn

• In RE-ENGINEERED, instead of high-stakes exams, you will do more assignments and quizzes so you can improve your mark if you stumble early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so you can get help when you need it. And instead of final exams, you will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.
• You will choose your engineering specialty – known as your major, or discipline – at the end of your first year. This is the area you will study in-depth in your upper-years classes. 

Crop scientists contribute to global food security by increasing local and global food production, developing new crop varieties, and protecting plants from disease and environmental stresses. Discover alternatives to traditional cropping systems and learn to improve the quality and nutrition of crops that feed the world.

What you will learn
Crop Science is the study of agricultural issues and challenges, including:

• Resource use consistent with sustainable production of food, feed, fibre and fuel
• Production, processing and marketing of high quality food and non-food products
• Research
• Development and implementation of innovative and efficient production
• Processing and marketing systems.

Crop Science integrates a broad range of disciplines, including genetics, pathology, crop quality and biotechnology, leading to the development of superior varieties of horticulture and field crops.

Agronomy is a science that finds ways to grow crops more efficiently and profitably while protecting the environment. Agronomy affects us all through the food we eat, the coffee we drink, the ethanol-based gas we use to power our vehicles and the natural fibers in the clothing we wear.

What you will learn
You will examine ways use natural resources efficiently, sustainably and profitably to produce food, feed, fibre and fuel. You will take courses from several disciplines and learn to approach agronomic issues from several different perspectives. You will acquire an understanding of the biological, ecological and economic principles of crop production and soil management, as well as an appreciation of the short and long term effects of agricultural production on the environment.

Geological engineers connect the worlds of nature and engineering. They apply engineering principles to the natural materials and fluids found in the earth, including rocks, soils, groundwater, petroleum and natural gas.

What you will learn

You will discover that philosophy touches on almost every area of study, as all major developments in biology, economics, mathematics, physics and psychology started out as philosophical hypotheses. You will examine morality, the nature of the mind, and the structure of human thinking and you will engage in critical and creative thinking about fundamental questions, such as what is meant by a worthwhile life, what sense there is to the universe, what it means to be a good person, and what makes a just society.
Philosophy is an especially beneficial area of study for students who want to do any kind of work that requires good language and reasoning skills, including the ability to formulate good arguments and to critically appraise statements and problems. Philosophy students often go into law, but they are also successful in any field that needs clear thinking and good communication. Journalism and media, business, and education are also common career paths. Many institutions also require individuals with expertise in ethical reasoning, and many students will find that taking a double honours degree or minor in philosophy alongside an allied field will enhance their performance in that other field. Students in philosophy also tend to score very highly in post-graduate admissions tests.

Mathematical physics connects mathematics to physical phenomena. Its tools allow us to describe how a top spins, how a pendulum swings or how a rattleback rocks and defies normal intuition. Studying mathematical physics reveals the hidden intricacies of relativity and quantum theory.

What you will learn
You will study conceptual, mathematical frameworks that describe or explain physical phenomena. You will learn how one builds theories of physical phenomena, accounting for physical features which are then expressed in precise mathematical terms. The deductions of the theory capture essential aspects of physical reality.
