Recently, the IT Industry has shifted towards business process automation. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is one of the widely adopted techniques not only in the IT industries but also in the non-IT industries to automate their monotonous and laborious tasks to gain efficiency, accuracy, and cost management. RPA can be implemented with the help of various RPA tools such as Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, UiPath, HelpsSystems, and Pega Robotics.

The technological growth, the Internet, and availability and sharing of information have tremendously increased information threats to organisations and individuals making it a challenge for users and system administrators to preserve security. Due to the requirement of sophisticated knowledge and tools to keep systems secure, there is a big need in India and around the world for information security professionals who are well educated about the various aspects of information security. The emergence of Information Security has resulted in the opening of various professional avenues for young professionals, creating a market ready for young IT graduates who can understand the risks involved in data security. With lucrative packages, data security has become the new professional direction for many students. Information Security specialisation will enable students to attain an in-depth knowledge of system and/or managerial aspects of information security, so that they can actively contribute to the prevention, detection and management of security threats, and/or the development of secured systems. It will also allow students with such ability to be easily identified by the IT industry. The main objective of this programme is to train students to become information security professionals for the high-end jobs in security industry.

BCA at JKLU is designed to offer application based learning in computer application through a cross-disciplinary and multi-perspective curriculum that focusses on building skills and a knowledge base for computer application development and IT administration. A number of core courses in contemporary and emerging technologies are well integrated in the course programme to help facilitate learning. Red Hat, Cisco, ORACLE, and IBM certifications are also available to students.

PhD programme at JKLU offers intensive education in Engineering and Management to help students realise their academic goals and pursue professions of their choice. Research in interdisciplinary areas in academics and exploration of innovative industrial practices during the programme offer an environment of scholarship and collaborative learning to students. Developing new perspectives of analysis and interpretation through critical examination and sound judgement open new realms of innovation and research for them.

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in industrial development by shaping business, economy and society. It has now emerged as a viable profession that can be created and fostered through specific educational and training programs. Entrepreneurship is no longer about start-ups, venture capitalists and investors only but also about building an entrepreneurial mindset. Entrepreneurship is a crucial life skill that nurtures an innovative mindset for solving the needs, pains, and problems of the society and create a better world. The programme aims to encourage students to nurture their entrepreneurial traits and think creatively to develop innovative ideas of products and services for commercial exploitation beyond the prototype stage. Students of Entrepreneurship experience a sense of achievement by creating, managing, and leading entrepreneurial setups. It would also enable students to start dreaming big, visualising, and working towards the realization of their dreams.

The B.Des. Programme begins with the common foundation programme for all disciplines.

The first year is a Common Foundation across different streams of design that enables you to acquire the requisite basics before embarking on three years of more specialised design education programme. Hands-on skill courses like Design drawing and Workshop skills like material manipulations, including working on a variety of materials like Wood, Bamboo, Sheet metal, Aluminium, and others form an integral part of the course curriculum.

Learn basic design theory, thorough grounding in elements of form, colour, and aesthetics besides the important sensitisation courses like Environmental Perception and History of Design that aim to give you a complete understanding and perspective of Design as a whole.
Apart from these regular inputs, you also get to learn basic computer skills, photography, printing basics, and presentations. Get introduced to critical thinking, culture studies, and communication that give you an edge in your chosen profession. Basics on Leadership courses along with inputs on Entrepreneurship prepare you for a fulfilling career ahead. We encourage you to write blogs, keep a journal, maintain a sketch book to develop deeper interest and insight in the subject.

Students of the Institute of Design organise and participate in various festivals and events that establish a strong foundation in life skills like  organisation, collaboration, and team work.

The programme is as much about digital devices as about analogue conversations. It is about cognitive sciences as well as computer sciences. Here, you get first-hand experience of designing and developing complex systems that deliver delightful digital experiences and hands-on inputs to develop user-centric designs.

Courses in cognitive ergonomics, human-computer interface & UI/ UX help in creating good user experiences. Basic understanding of coding helps you in developing digital products. You get to work on real-life projects like designing apps and portals for new businesses besides getting introduced to new methods of quick prototyping to validate your design solutions. Knowledge of typography, layouts, colour and form, helps in developing interactions that are visually delightful.

 A grounding in Entrepreneurship, additionally prepares you to work out design proposals and business plans. Our graduates find opportunities as Interaction designers in technology companies and big corporations. They are also sought after by start-ups in digital products and app development. Organisations that develop software also require UX or User experience designers who can interpret the man-machine interface. Service Design is another area of work for Interaction designers as they understand the systemic approach to problem solving.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the primordial branches of engineering. The programme incorporates courses from the area of design, manufacturing, and thermal. To remain in sync with the industry, the programme offers compulsory core courses, department electives, interdisciplinary courses, open electives, and practice schools for industrial training. The associated laboratory work and projects provide an opportunity for hands-on experience and a better understanding of the course. Project-based learning is adopted, where students are encouraged to innovate and work on a project while learning the course. On completion of the four year degree programme, students get equipped with a solid foundation in core mechanical engineering disciplines, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering that has evolved over the years with the modernisation of technologies. To fulfil the emerging trends in mechanical engineering, many new concentrations have been added to our curriculum like Automation and Robotics. In the current era, almost all the mechanical systems like cars, air conditions, refrigerator, etc. are amalgamated with electronics and electronic devices to make the process automatic. We have come up with this unique concentration where the students of mechanical engineering can learn both the fields of engineering. Robots are deployed in industries to make human life easy and convenient. The automation and robots in industries are capable of accomplishing tasks which could otherwise be hazardous for humans. To fulfil this need of time, we have incorporated a curriculum in electro-mechanical subjects to the concentration in automation and robotics.

The Master of Design (MDes) is a postgraduate-level degree in the field of design, awarded by higher education institutions around the world. The field of design is of course constantly changing, and careers in design typically call for a combination of personal creativity with professional skills such as project management. Designers are tasked with the challenge of examining and reimagining a huge range of physical objects which we use in all aspects of our daily lives.
