Computational material science involves exploration of material structure, properties and behaviour using modelling, simulation, theory or statistics. It is a wide field that encompasses computational techniques that can simulate electronic structure of materials, explore materials at different length scales: nano, micro, meso and macro scales, predict the structure based on thermodynamic stability and accelerate discovery of novel materials with desired properties. A student opting for this specialisation will get exposed to these techniques and will gain an in-depth expertise on any one technique through the dedicated project work.

This course deals with the inter-combination of statistics and computer science with an aim to extract patterns of information from given raw data (unprocessed data) and transform the data to provide meaningful information for business use. It covers the concepts of machine learning used as data mining techniques and touches upon the differences between data science and data mining. Students will be able to use the different data mining techniques such as association, clustering, and use different data mining applications such as market basket analysis and customer relationship management.

It is an arrangement designed to convert kinetic energy into other forms of usable energy, depending upon the application of the unit. Turbomachinery covers industries from energy conversion to the aeronautical engineering sector. Because of its extensive use in the job market, getting qualified in turbomachinery is crucial for any engineering. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) plays an essential role to analyse fluid flows and heat transfer situations by using numerical methods. Turbomachines involve internal and external fluid flow problems in compressors and turbines. CFD at present is one of the most important tools to design and analyse all types of turbomachinery flow physics. In the realm of turbomachinery, there is no shortage of diversity in the types of aero-thermal analysis of compressor and turbine as well as turbulent mixing in the flow passage area of the turbomachinery. Energy content is being added into and extracted from the flow and the resulting turbulent structures are not only taken for a ride, but precisely manipulated to maximize the performance of the system. For example, consider the cooling flow which is meant to blanket and protect the blade surface, as in the media below. The turbulence between the primary flow and the blanket of cooling flow streams has a massive impact on the effectiveness in shielding the metal parts from high heat loads.

Building on concepts developed in food systems, it explores topics such as public health disparities and their structural causes, environmental toxins in the food system and their impact on workers and consumers, as well as policies that have or could affect these outcomes, in both historical and contemporary contexts.
