This course covers framework for integrated planning of businesses and supply chain strategy. The focus is on strategic alternatives for logistics and supply chain like alignment, agility, and adaptability. Further, strategic alternatives like efficient and responsive supply chains, speculative and postponement strategy are studied in detail. Also, customer specific performance metrics of supply chains like fill rate and on time delivery are studied.

UPES School of Design’s Under Graduate Programme in User Experience and Interaction Design blends technical know-how, interdisciplinary research and a creative artistic-scientific approach. Forensic science is a highly advanced research method used in criminal and civil investigations to address critical questions. An integral part of the criminal justice system, it includes techniques such as the analysis of fingerprints, DNA analysis, and ballistics and explosives.

This course has been designed keeping in mind the close interrelation between law and forensic science to make students well-versed with the fundamental and advanced concepts of forensic science and its application in legal jurisprudence.

UPES School of Design’s Postgraduate Programme, M.Des in Transportation & Mobility Design educates and prepares students with relevant skills and knowledge to resolve the prevailing and future challenges around mobility. Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilar will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in market for commercialization.

B.Sc. Geology Hons. program provides specialization in Groundwater exploration and management.

Groundwater exploration involves investigation of underground rocks to understand the hydrologic cycle, the groundwater quality, and identify the nature, number and type of aquifers. Most of the liquid freshwater resources are stored underground as groundwater (99%). Its regional distribution varies and depends mainly on climatic conditions as well as the geology of the subsurface. In contrast to petroleum and minerals, a great amount of the groundwater is recharged in the hydrologic cycle by infiltrating precipitation.

A thorough knowledge on groundwater resources leads to its sustainable utilization, where the regional distribution of water resources, hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer and the regional and temporal variations of the water quality are important factors. The recharge, the natural runoff and groundwater abstraction rates are indispensable information for sustainable groundwater management. The data required for a resource assessment is obtained by hydrogeological exploration, observations and measurements at boreholes and wells, geophysical investigations, airborne geophysical surveys, satellite imagery, and meteorological observations. Methods such as geoelectrics, airborne electromagnetics, and transient electromagnetics are also applied for groundwater exploration.

This program specialization encourages students to explore the key principles of pharmacokinetics (PK) including factors that affect the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and binding of drugs and integrate these principles into the process of monitoring, evaluating and adjusting dosing for patients. It provides students with the ability to interpret drug concentration measurements in the context of the therapeutic window, along with the derivation of dosage adjustments to maintain therapeutic concentrations. Upon completion of the course, the student will contribute at planning, design and analysis of clinical studies from pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PD) perspective. They will apply this information in the clinical drug development process. It will also provide hands on experience with pharmacokinetic data analysis, advanced PK/PD modeling research with emphasis on disease progression modeling and implementation of mechanism-based approaches.

Bachelors in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics focusses on diverse aspects of research on nutritional science The program involves the study of food management and the importance of a healthy life.

Data Science is a blend of various tools, algorithms, and machine learning principles with the goal to discover hidden patterns from the raw data. Data Scientist not only does the exploratory analysis to discover insights from it, but also uses various advanced machine-learning algorithms to identify the occurrence of a particular event in the future. Data Science is primarily used to make decisions and predictions making use of predictive causal analytics, prescriptive analytics (predictive plus decision science) and machine learning.
