This is the second year of the Diploma qualifications.

You will be developing your knowledge and understanding of the health and fitness industry through vocational, project-based learning in the community combined with theory and professional practice

The Diploma in Beauty Therapy will offer you stimulating studies in advanced facial therapy, electrolysis and advanced body treatments. Add these skills to a knowledge of anatomy and physiology, cosmetic chemistry, and practical work experience, and you will be qualified for a range of beauty therapy roles.

There are a range of opportunities available to help you into employment and future study in this growing and key industry sector. This level 5 program is the first year of the diploma qualifications. You will focus on fitness techniques, health, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, training, coaching and motivating people with the sector. This program replaces the Diploma in Applied Fitness. If you have partially completed the Diploma in Applied Fitness you will be able to transition onto this new qualification.

Logistics is an innovative industry with constantly emerging business processes changes, enterprise software, tracking-and-reporting technologies, and business models. This program is designed for people who seek to gain advanced skills and knowledge in logistics and supply chain management to apply to their business environment, whether it be domestic or international business.The aim of this program is to produce work-ready graduates with the personal attributes, advanced specialised knowledge and practical skills necessary to make an immediate and innovative contribution to organisations engaged in, or wishing to engage in logistics and supply chain management whether locally, nationally or internationally.

This one year program is designed to build on scientific knowledge gained from your previous degree level study and give you practical experience to work daily in a marine environment. The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture will give you an advanced theoretical understanding and the technical and practical skills related to sustainable aquaculture practices. It will provide you with the skills to critically assess aquaculture systems. As part of an internship or in your existing employment, you will also complete an industry research project. This will encourage you to support the development of sustainable growth in the aquaculture sector through innovation. The program has been developed in consultation with the aquaculture and scientific community as well as industry representatives. It is designed to be flexible enough to meet today’s needs and those of the future, locally, nationally and internationally.

Learn to design and create a great user experience with website interface design. This program blends IT support and software development with the applied knowledge of website, systems and interface design.

• Apply the theory you learn in a practical web design project using an existing website framework to demonstrate your technical understanding. 
• Also develop skills in user interface design, content and website administration.
• This program will ready you to start your career creating websites for business clients.
• Once you graduate, you can pathway into the second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology.

This degree program is offered by AUT at the Nelson Campus and is available to graduates of the Diploma in Applied Fitness and the new New Zealand Diplomas in Sport, Recreation and Exercise. After completing the NZ Diploma in Sport Recreation and Exercise.

The courses that make up this program are all relevant and applied so you are constantly learning information you can apply to your work on graduation. The degree does not contain specialisation, however in your third year you will complete a big project that reflects the area of sports and recreation you are interested in. Class sizes are small providing more contact with your tutors than at larger institutions and you will make good friends with your class mates. The Bachelor of Arts and Media programme provides the fundamental skills to enable graduates to move into personal practice or embark on a career in arts and design.

Grounded in academic and technical excellence, you will learn the effective use of visual language by developing extensive knowledge in painting, graphic design, animation, photography, digital video and illustration.

You will develop fundamental skills in your first year through various compulsory courses, including lens-based media, graphic design, object design, image-making and communication, and critical studies.

With this program, you’ll work closely with adventure operators to gain experience in the adventure tourism industry. NMIT has conveniently located a short distance from three awesome National Parks (Kahurangi, Abel Tasman, and Nelson Lakes). While there are a number of classes on campus, you will also often be out and about hiking, rafting, rock climbing, sea-kayaking, skiing, snowboarding or canyoning.
