This program is designed to provide students with a broad base of business knowledge, and gain role-specific skills in either accounting or leadership and management.

All strands will learn about business operational functions, business communication, the New Zealand business context and interpersonal relationships.

In the accounting strand students will study financial transactions, financial statements, budgeting and taxation, and decision-making and analysis. This strand may equip graduates to work towards the academic requirements for CAANZ’s Accounting Technicians College.

In the leadership and management strand students will study business planning, project management, and leadership.

The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) (MNSc (Pre-reg)) programme is a 4-semester two-year programme. The MNSc (Pre-reg) allows degree qualified students a direct and faster route to a nursing career. On successful completion, graduates will be awarded a Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) and be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) to sit the State Final Examination to become a registered nurse.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

Students in this program will develop the professional skills required to work within the complex and interprofessional social service and health communities. Additional to what many other counselling program offer, it includes a mental health and addictions focus. Placement is a significant element of this program.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

This degree is for those who want to engage in fields of art including painting, photography, screen-based media, installation, street art, sculpture, curation or illustration. Students will study in a community where individual vision and personality are valued as a relevant contribution to our society.

Students will develop and gain a deep understanding of creativity in art and use this to respond to situations that demand combinations of ideas, technologies and techniques that result in new forms of knowledge and making. Such knowledge is powerful in the careers that will sustain and transform our world.

Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.

Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. With experience, students will be able to extend their work to include larger and more complex building projects and carry out tasks related to cost planning and financial control.

Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) is an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) degree. An ITE qualification is the requirement to become a beginning teacher in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Approved and monitored by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, this degree is designed for those who would like to pursue a career as a qualified early childhood education teacher.

In this program, students will gain a strong foundation of knowledge across a broad range of different information technology skills, as well as an advanced level of expertise in a selected specialisation.

Students will undertake core modules that cover the fundamental skills required for a career in IT, for example, software engineering, database architecture, web development, business analysis, communications technology, operating systems, systems administration, and network engineering. Students will also gain practical, industry-aligned skills that employers demand from our graduates as well as new and emerging fields including cloud computing, big data and analytics, DevOps, business intelligence, agile development, web and mobile app development, games development, AR/VR, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, and security.

Our degree is also designed to provide students with a broad skill-set and holistic understanding of the wider context of the IT business domain and the global IT industry, as well as specialist knowledge in a specific area.
