Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.

The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Humanities with an emphasis in Spatial Organization & Design Thinking provides an innovative approach to understanding and affecting the physical world, bringing a humanities perspective to the future of the built environment. The program offers courses in sustainability, digital media, fabrication technology, and more, preparing you for jobs that communicate about-and effect change in-buildings, cities, and landscapes. This degree can also be a stepping stone to graduate studies in design, architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

The goal for the General Studies program with an emphasis in Social, Behavioral and Human Understanding is to provide students with a strong base for looking at the social systems of individuals and societies. This Bachelor of General Studies helps students examine multiple perspectives on social and cultural change, and teaches them to assess the strengths and weaknesses of conflicting points of view. Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Students can opt for an emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies, a course of study that works with the Gender and Women's Studies department's prestigious Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Established in 1979, SIROW develops research-action projects of importance to women in the Southwestern U.S. and the Mexico-U.S. border regions. The Gender and Women's Studies department, founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum.

Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program helps students cultivate clear and strong communication skills (writing, argumentation and presentation) as well as analytical abilities. Students examine the foundations of political science: theory, processes, principles, institutions, law, policy, international relations, foreign affairs, and ideas and methods. Students are encouraged to pursue opportunities outside of the classroom, such as internships at nonprofit organizations and government agencies, including the Arizona Legislature, the Arizona Superior Court and politicians' campaigns.
