Become a leader in historic preservation and learn about the importance of heritage conservation to preserve and create more sustainable built environments.Students in the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program with a Heritage Conservation Emphasis explore the value of historic structures and landscapes and the reasons for preserving and adapting them. The faculty bring a breadth of experience and depth of expertise to coursework, teaching students how the preservation and adaptation of historic structures advances environmental, cultural and economic sustainability. Students learn the processes and protocols of conservation as well as current issues in historic preservation and resource management. Graduates are prepared for careers as managers at nonprofit organizations, leaders of government agencies, and consultants in heritage conservation and historic preservation.

The safety, sustainability and efficiency of structures depend on architectural engineers who are passionate about every detail of construction. Architectural engineers design systems that complete the built environment. They ensure the structural integrity and resilience of buildings and the comfort and health of those who occupy them. Students in the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering program develop a solid foundation in areas such as structural health monitoring and analysis, materials processing, and water and energy efficiency. Undergraduates gain real-world experience through specialized projects, architectural studio courses and paid internships. Students are prepared to work at engineering, architecture and construction firms or to pursue advanced degrees.

Geography is the study of Earth's physical features and the complicated relationship between humans and the environment. The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Geography with an emphasis in Water, Environment and Society takes this a step further. Students explore the broad scope of water supply and demand - a theme that has emerged as a critical planning issue in communities in the Western U.S. and around the world - at a school recognized as the world's No. 1 program in water resources by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Courses examine key questions facing policymakers and train students in the methods decision-makers use to address these issues, including remote sensing, geographic information science (GIS) and field methods. Students are encouraged to pursue internships and have access to research opportunities at renowned facilities and organizations, including the Water Resources Research Center, Arizona Project WET and Biosphere 2.

Mexican American Studies examines the Mexican American experience as informed by social and health sciences, history, law and humanities. Students in this Bachelor of Arts major gain insight into how government and public policy, minority health disparities, urban planning, law, immigration, language and more affect the Mexican American population. Current U.S. demographic trends show that Mexican Americans live and work in the Southwest, the Midwest and the South, and many of these communities need people who are knowledgeable about the challenges and trajectories of Mexican Americans. The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry uses chemistry as a tool to examine the molecular processes of life. Biochemistry is at the core of life sciences, and biochemical knowledge provides the underpinning for a variety of disciplines, from medicine to agriculture to engineering. In this program, students take coursework from award-winning faculty whose research and expertise include diverse specialties: protein structure and function, molecular genetics, medicinal biochemistry, optics, physics and more. Students hone communication and presentation skills; learn report writing, analytical thinking and research methods; and develop proficiency in mathematics and information technology. In the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program with a Law and Public Policy emphasis, students prepare for a career as a change-maker in law, as a government official as they study not only the foundations of political theory, institutions, international relations, foreign affairs and more, but also the how-to of making policy and progress happen. Students develop powerful analytical, argumentation and communication skills, and have access to internships at nonprofit organizations and government agencies, such as the Arizona Legislature and the Arizona Superior Court, and local and state politicians' campaigns.

The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program asks students to choose from one of two emphases and language or culture. The two differ in the amount of language students learn. The Chinese Culture Intensive focus requires less language and provides a strong foundation in Chinese history, religion, culture and society. Students learn how to articulate the commonalities, complexity and diversity within and across Chinese culture. As the second-largest economy in the world, China is a significant player on the international stage, and a degree specializing in Chinese culture offers a wealth of professional opportunities.

If you have a strong drive and entrepreneurial spirit, set your aspirations on the highly lauded, one-year New Venture Development Program.  Students wishing to add a second major to another course of study at the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management have the option of applying to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. The New Venture Development Program at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship offers selected students a one-year immersion curriculum during their senior year. In collaboration with their peers and with entrepreneurs serving as mentors, students build a new venture from the ground up and hone their entrepreneurial and business leadership skill set in the process. Ranked in the nation's top 10 programs, the B.S.B.A. in Entrepreneurship is highly selective, and accepted students graduate with a competitive edge.

The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science equips students to design, implement and test programs that solve significant and meaningful problems. Students learn how to collaborate to develop large software systems and can explain the purpose, design and implementation of programs. Graduates are able to design and analyze algorithms and can evaluate the correctness and performance of computer programs. To earn this B.A., students must start as Pre-computer Science majors and complete a core set of classes. No application is required to progress from Pre-computer Science to Computer Science. The B.A. curriculum requires students to study a second language proficiency and take natural science courses.
