Follow in the footsteps of past and present feminist icons to become a leader in the movement toward gender equality across all fronts. Founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, the Gender and Women's Studies department at the University of Arizona stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum. The Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary program that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Small class sizes encourage students to interact closely to learn the ways in which gender shapes society, culture, history, the economy and politics in the U.S. This approach to scholarship builds critical thinking, reading, writing and research skills. This B.A. relies heavily on both collaborative engagement and independent study, and students are encouraged to get involved in community organizations.

If you have a strong drive and entrepreneurial spirit, set your aspirations on the highly lauded, one-year New Venture Development Program.  Students wishing to add a second major to another course of study at the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management have the option of applying to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. The New Venture Development Program at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship offers selected students a one-year immersion curriculum during their senior year. In collaboration with their peers and with entrepreneurs serving as mentors, students build a new venture from the ground up and hone their entrepreneurial and business leadership skill set in the process. Ranked in the nation's top 10 programs, the B.S.B.A. in Entrepreneurship is highly selective, and accepted students graduate with a competitive edge.

Forge a deeper understanding of how aspects of race and gender discrimination overlap, and then learn ways to dismantle the systems that keep those factors in place. Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Students can opt for an emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies, a course of study that works with the Gender and Women's Studies department's prestigious Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Established in 1979, SIROW develops research-action projects of importance to women in the Southwestern U.S. and the Mexico-U.S. border regions. The Gender and Women's Studies department, founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum.

Take a deep dive into the human psyche of this program analyzes people's motivations, the role of power and the effects of change in historical and contemporary societies. The goal for the General Studies program with an emphasis in Social, Behavioral and Human Understanding is to provide students with a strong base for looking at the social systems of individuals and societies. This Bachelor of General Studies helps students examine multiple perspectives on social and cultural change, and teaches them to assess the strengths and weaknesses of conflicting points of view. Students not only develop an appreciation of, and sensitivity to, differences between individuals from various economic, political, religious, cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds, but they also learn to think clearly about complex problems and employ creative innovation when finding solutions.

Technology and creativity come together in fascinating ways. Be on the cutting edge of this rapidly growing field with a degree in computational arts. The study of information science and arts uses a solid mathematical and technical foundation to emphasize computational arts, such as creative coding and digital storytelling. The Bachelor of Arts in Information Science and Arts consists of coursework organized into three tiers: core classes (computer programming, digital ethics, statistics, fundamentals of information science); research methods, data analysis and intensive computing; and advanced techniques customized to each student's interest. Students enjoy access to laser cutters, 3D printers and other technologies in the new rapid prototyping lab, and they can harness their creativity into a highly specific technical expertise.

Develop a comprehensive education in Arabic, from language proficiency to cultural knowledge of Arabic society, at one of the top programs in the U.S. Arabic studies introduce students to the richness and importance of Arabic culture. Offered by the School of Middle Eastern & North African Studies, this Bachelor of Arts program makes an excellent double major, preparing students for successful international careers. As students become proficient in Arabic - widely considered a critical language for the U.S. - they also learn dialects such as Moroccan and Egyptian. Orchestra ensembles include the Arizona Symphony and the Philharmonic. Mariachi Arizona is another ensemble option, immersing students in a rich musical heritage. Along with applied study, students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Flute emphasis perform solo, chamber, concerto, orchestral and wind ensemble repertoire for live performances, competitions and recordings. They focus on performance objectives; develop important kinesiological habits; condense music theory, history and physiology in a simplified, interpretative way; and train the body's physical performance mechanisms.
