The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism focuses on reporting the news for radio, television and multimedia outlets. The program of study touches on important aspects of journalism such as law and ethics before diving into hands-on learning. Broadcast majors write, report, fact-check, shoot, produce and edit hard-news features and in-depth stories for broadcast and the web, culminating in quality news reports that can be included on reels to share with prospective employers. Learn to speak, read and understand Japanese fluently as an essential and transferable skill for those who wish to pursue a career in the global economy.The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies allows students to focus on one of two areas: language or culture. The Japanese Language Intensive emphasis teaches language proficiency on three levels, from beginning to advanced, as well as offers specialized instruction in advanced reading, writing and conversation. Students might be asked to take a placement exam to determine their level. Upon graduation, students can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with Japanese speakers. In this Yuma-based program, students discover how production chains become contaminated with diseases, and learn Good Agricultural Practices for the harvest of leafy greens and fresh-vegetable food safety. Coursework provides insight into food safety issues, field risk assessments, facility sanitation and inspection processes. Students gain real-life experience in the applications of soil, water and plant sciences, including soil chemistry, plant nutrition and hydroponics.
