The M.S. in Taxation Program at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) is geared toward practicing accountants in the fields of public, corporate, and governmental accounting as well as lawyers, financial managers and planners who need extensive information and formal study in taxation. The program prepares students for professional tax practice whether they are earning their degree, expanding their expertise on a specific topic, or taking courses to maintain their CPA license. We offer full-time and part-time options to accommodate work schedules and to allow students to earn their degrees rapidly.

The faculty includes partners and managers from national, regional, and local CPA firms, noted tax attorneys, and specialists in many areas such as financial planning and state and local taxation. Industrial design (ID) is about creating the future. You’ll learn how to design things that transform the lives of people worldwide: from human-powered washing machines for developing societies, to interactive car control systems; from better backpacks for airline travel, to MP3 players made from bamboo. It all starts with the design process, a way of thinking and working to develop strategies for innovation, propose more efficient systems and services, and create valued products.

Working in an open, collaborative studio environment, you’ll learn how to make drawings and 3D models, build prototypes and share ideas with others to learn from their input. You’ll create in a sustainable and responsible way, addressing the needs of the end user, the client, and the world as a whole. Participating in global design teams will sharpen your skills through travel and research. You’ll even collaborate on real projects with leading companies like Philips, Knoll, and Umbra.

A degree in ID opens a wide array of career paths to you. Our graduates have gone on to become leaders at design-driven companies and consultancies, have funded their own startups through social media and joined socially-driven organizations to improve the lives of others.

The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program at Thomas Jefferson University is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission (ANSAC) of ABET.  ABET-ANSAC evaluates 4-year Construction Management programs to approve that “Graduates of Construction Management programs will have the knowledge, as well as the technical, administrative and communication skills, necessary to succeed in the construction industry.” The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program, BS in Construction Management emphasizes the importance of a rich and productive collaboration between construction, project management and design.

The industry-centered curriculum prepares students for leadership roles in this challenging, multi-faceted, competitive field to contribute to a project or firm immediately upon graduation. Our Mission
Jefferson’s construction management program’s mission is to prepare students to be ethical, innovative problem-solvers who understand the full construction business model. Upon graduation, students possess a working knowledge of the construction business model and will be equipped with the technical knowledge and administrative and communication skills to plan and manage each phase of the construction process.

The Jefferson College of Population Health (JCPH) offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, which is nationally accredited through the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Students develop competencies in several key public health areas: health behavior and social sciences, biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, policy and advocacy, program planning, implementation and evaluation, and others. The interdisciplinary curriculum stresses leadership skills, systems thinking, health communication, global health, and cultural humility and competency. JCPH also offers a Graduate Certificate in Public Health, which provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills for public health practice.

Public health professionals track disease outbreaks, conduct community health assessments, plan health education programs and direct campaigns to reduce risk factors that foster chronic health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. They develop and advocate for policies, both public and private, that reduce harmful environmental exposures and that provide increased access to preventive health services for underserved populations. Many engage in public health research and support multi-cultural global health initiatives here and abroad.

Public health professionals take the lead in local, state and federal health agencies, community health centers and hospitals, non-governmental health organizations (NGOs), schools and universities, professional health agencies, health insurance companies and other related businesses.

Program Audiences

Public health students come from a variety of fields and have included:

• Recent college graduates with majors in natural or social sciences, including pre-med or other pre-professional students seeking an educational experience during their gap or glide year
• Not-so-recent college graduates with relevant work experience wishing to enhance their health-related career or make a career change
• Students currently enrolled in a professional program (medicine, law, pharmacy, social work) who wish to earn an additional degree in public health as part of a dual degree program
• Health or related professionals working in government, community health organizations, non-profits, healthcare settings, health insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry and academic institutions

In the textile design program, you will learn how to turn innovative ideas into actual printed, woven and knitted products. Through our proven curriculum, you will be trained to blend aesthetic and creative skills with the latest technologies.

You will take studio and technical courses in weaving, knitting and printing, dyeing and finishing, and materials technology. You will be taught by active members of the textile design field, including artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing real-world applications to the classroom experience.

Partnerships with industry and national and international design competitions provide you with practical experience. You can also study abroad to learn about a new culture while expanding your textile design skills. And, since our faculty remain active in the textile design field, our internship program is one of the strongest in the industry. You may intern with companies like Urban Outfitters and Abercrombie & Fitch starting in your junior year.

 Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared to enter the global textile marketplace with a commanding competitive edge and attain positions in all areas of the industry from national and international firms to boutique and specialty retailers.

Our graduates’ first jobs include: print designers for apparel and home furnishings, dobby and jacquard woven stylists for contract and residential upholstery, and textile specialists for high performance sports apparel.

This active and collaborative program will prepare you for what’s next. You start collecting chemical knowledge and skills through core courses and shadowing faculty and upper-level student researchers.  As a sophomore, you will start helping with authentic, real-world research projects – experience many biochemistry students don’t get until graduate programs. This is possible thanks to the individual attention you get in our small classes and our well-equipped research laboratories.

Vascular sonographers or vascular (vascular ultrasound) technologists use sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound imaging machines and transducers that use high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images, to record:

• Vascular blood flow
• Blood pressure
• Limb volume changes
• Oxygen saturation
• Cerebral circulation
• Peripheral circulation
• Abdominal circulation

They also assist physicians in diagnosing disorders of the vascular system and acquire information related to blood vessel anatomy and physiology: cerebral, peripheral and abdominal circulation.

Vascular sonographers work directly with healthy and critically ill inpatients and outpatients of adult and geriatric ages, performing predominantly noninvasive procedures in small, low-lit rooms. They stand or sit beside the patient, who is on a stretcher, exam table or wheelchair. Sometimes the vascular sonographer will transport a portable ultrasound to a patient's room and perform the test there.

The Jefferson Master of Architecture Program is a first-professional graduate program designed to prepare students for professional architectural practice through the development of sustainable design and technology skills, knowledge of project management, and collaborative experiences in an interdisciplinary environment. The program is located within easy access to Center City Philadelphia with its rich collection of major historical and contemporary buildings. Philadelphia also provides an ongoing laboratory for many of our courses and opportunities for internships.

The MArch Program offers multiple starting tracks. Your track will be individually decided based on your level of preparedness. The selection committee will consider your educational background, experience and portfolio. While each applicant is reviewed individually, these are the typical tracks:

• Students without a degree in a design discipline will typically begin the program with a 2-course summer program in design basics, before beginning the fall semester.
• Students with a satisfactory portfolio and experience in design basics will start in fall of the first year.
• Students granted advanced standing, typically coming from a 4-year pre-professional architecture program, will join the sequence in the second year.

The Master of Architecture is a 3+ year 100-credit degree program for students without advanced standing. Students granted advance standing may be able to complete the program in as little as two years with 49 credits minimum.

The Fashion Merchandising and Management Program at Jefferson features an immersive, career-focused curriculum that prepares students to contribute to all aspects of the fashion value chain. Ranked in the top-20 fashion schools by Business of Fashion, the program teaches current and upcoming trends in advancing technologies and a global fashion marketplace.
The fashion industry has evolved into a billion-dollar business offering many rewarding opportunities, from buying and sourcing to merchandising and brand management.

In our stimulating and supportive environment, you will build a strong foundation in sciences and humanities, preparing you for success in upper-division courses in Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences.

As a student in this program, you will complete two years of pre-professional coursework with other pre-medical and health students on Jefferson’s East Falls Campus. In late fall of your second year, you will interview and begin the process of working with faculty to select concentrations in the medical imaging and radiation sciences professional program. Students who interview and maintain progression criteria are guaranteed to matriculate into the professional phase. Jefferson’s academic advisors and faculty work closely with our students on course selection and academic performance to ensure that each student is on pace to transition into the professional phase of the program.
