The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions as clinical laboratory managers, consultants, research associates and research scientists in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry or medical toxicology.

The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or medical toxicology, such as:

• Managers of clinical laboratories
• Consultants
• Research associates
• Research scientists

Graduates of the program have been accepted into PhD and professional doctoral programs.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

The M.S. in Textile Technology at Jefferson offers an integrated and collaborative curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with experiential laboratory experiences. In many courses students turn innovative ideas into original products.  It is expected that graduates of the program will pursue careers in production, product evaluation, research and development, or management in the textile and apparel related fields.

The program teaches cutting-edge technical textile processes to students interested in learning more about the science and technical based aspects of textiles. Courses focus on development, production, and characterization of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and textile based products.   The program combines theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on experience with weaving, knitting, nonwovens, and composites production equipment in the innovative Fashion and Textiles Futures Center, as well as materials evaluation equipment in the Grundy Lab on the East Falls campus.

The Interior Design Program at Jefferson is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and a top ranked undergraduate program in the U.S. Known for our excellence in interior design education we prepare graduates for successful careers in the evolving global marketplace. The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program is grounded in the belief that the interior designer mediates between the human experience and the built environment and should enter the global marketplace as articulate, creative, inspired and socially aware design professionals. The program integrates collaborative, interdisciplinary and study abroad opporunities broadening students' knowledge and abilities. Our Philadelphia location provides a multitued of options for internships, memberships in professional organizations, and partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals, all of which give our students a unique advantage with real-world hands-on experience.

The Health Sciences Program includes a team of specialized advisors with first-hand insight in health and medical fields, who understand the academic pathway from college application through professional practice. Our advisors will help you to stay on track throughout your education, helping you to maximize opportunities to pursue the field that will best fit your strengths and interests, from undergraduate course selection through graduate or doctoral placement.

Medical laboratory scientists work behind the scenes in laboratories to provide clinicians with test results needed to diagnose, treat, and manage their patients’ conditions. Blood, body fluids, and other patient specimens are analyzed using manual methods and state-of-the-art instrumentation to test for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, infection, anemia, and leukemia.

The four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (B.S.) program allows students to focus on a field allied to the profession of architecture. After common first-year studios that lay the foundation for visual thinking, students will select two minors based upon their areas of academic and professional interest. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors that allow Architectural Studies students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis with a liberal arts focus. Opportunities exist for collaborative studios, fieldwork, study abroad options, professional internships and elective offerings.

Contemporary architecture encompasses a number of discrete, though intersecting, disciplines and requires individuals trained to fill a variety of roles beyond that of designer. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors to allow students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis and a liberal arts focus. Options range from areas that are intrinsic to making and constructing buildings and environments, such as building technology, to fields that support the rehabilitation and documentation of architecture and sites, such as historic preservation.

The Jefferson Communication program prepares students for today’s media marketplace through a broad-based education that emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and multimedia skills development.

The program tailors itself to the unique career goals of each student, and provides the key skills necessary to transition into new areas of communications, as the marketplace continues to change and grow.

This active and collaborative program will prepare you for what’s next. You start collecting chemical knowledge and skills through core courses and shadowing faculty and upper-level student researchers.  As a sophomore, you will start helping with authentic, real-world research projects – experience many biochemistry students don’t get until graduate programs. This is possible thanks to the individual attention you get in our small classes and our well-equipped research laboratories.

The Fashion Merchandising and Management Program at Jefferson features an immersive, career-focused curriculum that prepares students to contribute to all aspects of the fashion value chain. Ranked in the top-20 fashion schools by Business of Fashion, the program teaches current and upcoming trends in advancing technologies and a global fashion marketplace.
The fashion industry has evolved into a billion-dollar business offering many rewarding opportunities, from buying and sourcing to merchandising and brand management.

The Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling MS program will provide students integrative education and training to become compassionate and knowledgeable genetic counselors.

Learning Outcomes

• Jefferson College of Life Sciences launched our MS program in Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, in the Fall of 2017.  
• Employment of genetic counselors is projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are only 48 graduate genetic counseling programs in the country.  Placement of a new genetic counseling program within the rich clinical and health science environment of the Jefferson enterprise would provide students significant competitive advantage.
