Overview
The Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology Program offers choices for career specialization with flexible schedules, professional training for academic credit and academic preparation for national professional certification.
The broad-based curriculum includes a minimum of 40 credits. Course content includes:

The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Master of Science in Biopharmaceutical Process Engineering (STEM)
The new transformational (12 months) 36-credit Master’s Degree Program in Biopharmaceutical Process Engineering will be delivered at the Jefferson Institute for Bioprocessing (JIB) and is ideal for employment focused graduates with first degrees in Life Sciences and Engineering.
The Jefferson Institute for Bioprocessing (JIB) is a 25,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art facility designed for the training of industry professionals, as well as the education of the next generation of scientists and engineers interested in pursuing rewarding careers in biomanufacturing. Biopharmaceutical Processing is a rapidly growing industry focused on the development of robust processes to manufacture high value biologics and advanced therapeutics for patients with debilitating and life limiting diseases that affect millions of patients worldwide, such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.
Training and education in biopharmaceutical processing are exceptionally laboratory intensive. At JIB our students spend less time in traditional classroom settings and more time in JIB’s pilot-scale facility fully equipped with the most advanced technologies and processes used by industry to manufacture biopharmaceuticals.
For the hybrid option, the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 schedule for courses requiring the completion of on-site hands-on laboratory related coursework will be available prior to the start of each respective semester. In each instance, the on-site coursework will be scheduled in continuous late-semester blocks to avoid the necessity of frequent travel.

Vascular sonographers or vascular (vascular ultrasound) technologists use sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound imaging machines and transducers that use high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images, to record:
They also assist physicians in diagnosing disorders of the vascular system and acquire information related to blood vessel anatomy and physiology: cerebral, peripheral and abdominal circulation.
Vascular sonographers work directly with healthy and critically ill inpatients and outpatients of adult and geriatric ages, performing predominantly noninvasive procedures in small, low-lit rooms. They stand or sit beside the patient, who is on a stretcher, exam table or wheelchair. Sometimes the vascular sonographer will transport a portable ultrasound to a patient's room and perform the test there.

Master of Science in Forensic Biology
The MS Program in Forensic Biology is an exclusive program designed to position students for advancement and professional development in the specific field of forensic biology.
This is a full-time, two-year program with courses taught at both the Jefferson Center City campus as well as at The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education laboratory in Willow Grove, PA. One of the aspects which sets our forensic biology program apart from other universities is that students will be working adjacent to a fully-functioning, ISO-17025 accredited, private DNA laboratory. Instead of spending the duration of the program in a classroom, Jefferson students will be learning within an actual forensic laboratory and working alongside practicing scientists who serve as faculty and mentors. This teaching setting allows our students to engage first-hand in crime lab operation, offering an unparalleled educational experience.

The M.S. in Textile Technology at Jefferson offers an integrated and collaborative curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with experiential laboratory experiences. Invasive cardiovascular technologists operate sophisticated imaging and patient monitoring equipment while working with the cardiologist, who performs procedures on patients, leading to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. Using x-ray (fluoroscopy) and patient monitoring equipment, invasive cardiovascular technology (ICVT):
Invasive cardiovascular technologists work directly with critically ill inpatients and outpatients of adult and geriatric ages, often performing invasive procedures. They work in a sterile environment, where they manipulate x-ray equipment to acquire images, sit at computer console to monitor vital signs and stand, sometimes for long periods of time, to assist the cardiologist during catheterization. The equipment invasive cardiovascular technologists work with requires that they wear lead aprons.
