Rowan's Physics major balances general physics courses that develop analytical skills needed for any career direction with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The department also offers coursework in astronomy and astrophysics. Personal attention is a hallmark of the program: enrollment in laboratory-based physics classes is limited to 24 students per section, and all lectures and labs are taught by faculty, not teaching assistants. In our junior-level Research Methods courses, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment as they plan and execute a project under the direction of our research faculty. Physics majors can enter fields such as education, going on to teach at the secondary level, or pursue an advanced degree to become a college profesor and/or conduct research; others may enter fields such as busiess, computers, engineering, finance, law, and medicine.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has become one of the hottest areas of interest for students and a highly marketable skill. Often listed as a "recession-proof" job, GIS technicians, analysts and specialists find employment in planning and engineering firms, in state and local government, and in many non-profit and advocacy organizations. Spatial analysis allows us to explore complex data sets and see how many environmental factors can impact a place. Visualization tools that are a part of GIS software allow us to explore data in 3D and across time periods. GIS is the tool to explore our world.

The Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Science (B.S.GIS) major is a professional degree program that prepares students for a range of careers dealing with geospatial technologies, modeling, and spatial problem-solving. Graduates of our program are well-prepared for positions in research laboratories, local, state, and federal agencies, private companies, planning departments, engineering firms, and many others. Our students are also excellently prepared for pursuing advanced graduate degree programs. The B.S. GIS program provides students with in-depth skills in GIS analysis and programming. The program at Rowan has a special focus on web-based mapping, environmental sustainability and the emerging field of geodesign which coordinates well with our planning offerings.

The M.A. in Strategic Communication offers a flexible structure taught by experienced professionals in public relations, public affairs, advertising, and integrated marketing communications. As a graduate student, you have access to individual consultations and mentoring provided by faculty and the professional network who supports the program. In our program, you have the freedom to focus on coursework that best matches your professional interests: media relations, strategic writing, event planning and management, visual communication, online public relations, or school public relations.

Our M.A. in Counseling in Educational Settings prepares professional practitioners in School Counseling to become change agents in their school and community through a system perspective where all students are served. Our program fosters reflection and ambition in our graduates as they participate in a curriculum designed to translate theory into realistic action:

Our Master of Science in Chemical Engineering provides the opportunity to work on real-world projects in state-of-the-art facilities. In our program, you participate in an applied, hands-on education and build the knowledge and training needed to effectively contribute to the field of engineering. The Chemical Engineering specialization emphasizes project management skills and industrially relevant research that prepares students for careers in high-tech fields. This program includes the following focus areas: Bioengineering & Biomedical Engineering; Polymer Science & Engineering; Separations; Reaction Engineering; Sustainability; and Engineering Pedagogy.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Geology are physical science majors composed of foundation courses in science and mathematics; core courses in geology; and upper-level geoscience electives. The BA programs are designed to prepare students to enter the geoscience workforce in consulting firms or government agencies; pursue professional studies; or undertake advanced graduate studies in geoscience disciplines. Students who pursue a BA in Geology have greater flexibility to take electives in environmental science, geography, social sciences, and other disciplines.

The Bachelor of Science in Community and Environmental Planning is a professional degree program that prepares students for positions in local, state, and federal agencies, private companies, planning departments, engineering firms, as well as graduate school programs in planning. The program introduces students to the diversity of the planning profession while providing an understanding of the broader purpose of planning, and the opportunity to focus on practice and application through research and studio credits. Students will gain exposure to the wide array of potential career opportunities within this field through the diverse experience of the full and part-time faculty members employed within the discipline. The planning curriculum at Rowan has a special focus on sustainable community design, land conservation, food systems and the specific planning practices and challenges of the region.

A  full range of theatre and dance production opportunities complements coursework and allows students to develop performance and production skills by creating live theatre.  All students may participate in the department's annual faculty-directed mainstage and/or student productions. These projects provide students with practical experience as performers, directors, designers and technicians, and enhances skills learned in the classroom.

Concentration in Acting
Focus on dance and singing to become a multi-disciplinary, diverse independent artist. Train in movement, voice, script analysis, psychological acting, directing and literature.

Movement is paired with cutting-edge vocal work including Linklater, Fitzmaurice and Roy Hart techniques. We fuse voice and physical work with psychological acting based in original Stanislavsky teachings.

Our M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis prepares our graduates with the necessary coursework for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Applied Behavior Analysis is one of the most effective and frequently utilized treatment approaches for individuals with special needs, including those with developmental disabilities and autism. Our program has an excellent reputation, and includes a strong basis in experimental analysis with full-time faculty members trained in this area.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for careers in environmental consulting, management, science writing, or science education. While also rigorous, the BA is a more flexible pathway with enough free electives to permit a second major in areas such as Education, Communications, Environmental & Sustainability Studies, or Geology.

BA students integrate the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics and other core STEM disciplines with their understanding of environmental issues. Environmental scientists are on the front line of documenting environment change and developing solutions to modern problems that impact everyone on Earth.
