The Department of Aerospace Engineering offers both a thesis and non-thesis Master of Science, which provide students an opportunity to sharpen their skills in aerospace system design, development, manufacturing, maintenance, and operation. The department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in medical laboratory science, chemistry, and biochemistry. The department has 24 full-time faculty members and is conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of biological chemistry, synthesis methodology, molecular recognition and detection, new material synthesis and characterization, computational chemistry, renewable energy, as well as in the traditional areas of analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. Undergraduate laboratory classes are conducted in the Sciences Center Laboratories Building.

The Department of Biological Science offers three majors leading to the Bachelor of Science degree (Marine Biology; Microbial, Cellular & Molecular Biology; Organismal Biology).  The curricula for these majors are designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization.  All of these majors also provide a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

The BA curriculum in Chemistry provides a strong background in chemistry while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. It is especially well suited for students leaning towards medical sciences while allowing more flexibility than that allowed in the American Chemical Society approved biochemistry curriculum. The program allows for great versatility in the junior and senior years, allowing the curriculum to be tailored to individual goals. The curriculum prepares students for professional careers in chemistry or biochemistry and advanced degree programs in chemistry, biochemistry and medically related fields.

Our English literature major engages your curiosity and imagination and provides you with tools to critically read works from different periods, genres, and authors. You’ll explore literary and cultural texts, primarily in the British and American traditions. You’ll develop the ability to construct arguments from texts, be conversant in the terms of a particular genre and the historical period, and be able to write using a critical approach.

Our major in animal sciences (ANSC) will prepare you for a career in veterinary medicine, medicine, equine science, food safety, animal and allied industries and related areas. The program is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in fields such as animal nutrition, biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology, growth biology, meat science and muscle biology, breeding and genetics, and reproductive biology.

The Nutrition Science Option provides students with a curriculum well-grounded in the basic sciences with the practical application of the principles of physiology and biochemistry to the science of nutrition. The program is designed to meet the requirements for application to professional schools such as medical, dental, physical therapy, and other paramedical programs. This option also prepares students for graduate study in nutrition and other health-related disciplines.
