The Department offers the Organismal Biology major leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.  The curricula for this major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization. This program also provides a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

Our Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. You’ll also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

Emphasis in Nursery and Greenhouse Science
As a student in nursery and greenhouse science major option, you will learn how to manage container nurseries, field nurseries and greenhouses for the production of woody and herbaceous perennial ornamentals, annuals and florist crops.

Our studio art degree will expand your imagination and creative expression within the classroom and the studio.

Our faculty will challenge you to develop your own approach to art through a dynamic mixture of stylistic and aesthetic viewpoints. Our studio art degree is composed of one-on-one instruction in small classes and exciting courses in painting/drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, and sculpture.

Today’s consumers want the news in every form—on their phone, in a podcast, through social media, on television. With a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, you’ll learn how to research and report news and information across all platforms, both digital and traditional. You can specialize in broadcast, community, digital technology, entrepreneurial/business, health and science, investigative, magazine, sports, or visual journalism. And you’ll receive additional hands-on practical experience when you work at the student newspaper, television station, radio station, magazine, or yearbook.

Auburn’s Wildlife Enterprise Management (WLEM) degree is one of only two such programs in the United States.  This cross-disciplinary degree program, founded on the basic principles of wildlife management, hospitality services, and business management, ensures that graduates are prepared for employment at any of thousands of hunting and fishing lodges, ranches, corporate retreat facilities, and other consumptive use facilities worldwide.

The degree is collaboratively taught by world-renowned faculty from the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences and the Colleges of Business and Human Sciences.  With this program, students gain the necessary skill set required of graduates and access to a wide range of internship opportunities across the globe. Natural Resources Management is the management of both people and the environment to achieve society’s goals and sustain natural systems. The Natural Resources Management major prepares the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, ability, and excellence to conserve and manage our natural systems for a sustainable future. The degree is an innovative interdisciplinary combination of social and ecosystem sciences, structured to generate critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to address the many challenges of complex natural resources issues.

The curriculum leading to this degree allows students to gain comprehensive understanding of the relationships between the structure and properties of materials. Courses offer students a broad foundation in chemistry, physics and mathematics. Within the curriculum are classes and labs covering metals, ceramics, polymers and the design and selection of those materials. Students have the opportunity to explore different fields through a sequence of technical electives in other engineering disciplines. A series of senior capstone project courses allows students to apply materials science principles to open-ended engineering problems.
