The Nutrition Science Option provides students with a curriculum well-grounded in the basic sciences with the practical application of the principles of physiology and biochemistry to the science of nutrition. The program is designed to meet the requirements for application to professional schools such as medical, dental, physical therapy, and other paramedical programs. This option also prepares students for graduate study in nutrition and other health-related disciplines.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics (DMS) at Auburn University has over 50 professors representing diverse areas of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. Many of the general undergraduate classes are capped at under 30 students, meaning they are able to offer students personal attention and close contact with faculty. The program in Mathematics provides students with a general background in mathematics preparing them for graduate studies in mathematics or careers that require mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. It is a laboratory-based science that brings together biology and chemistry. By using chemical knowledge and techniques, biochemists can understand and solve biological problems.

Biochemistry focuses on processes happening at a molecular level. It focuses on what’s happening inside our cells, studying components like proteins, lipids and organelles. It also looks at how cells communicate with each other, for example during growth or fighting illness. Biochemists need to understand how the structure of a molecule relates to its function, allowing them to predict how molecules will interact.

The agricultural communications major combines the study of agricultural sciences, practices and policy with the study of communications media and methods. What you’ll Study
As an agricultural communications major, you’ll take basic agriculture classes as well as chemistry and biology to ensure your understanding of agricultural issues. You’ll also take a variety of classes through the School of Communications and Journalism and the English Department, including public relations, marketing, journalism, radio, television, film, digital media and technical writing. The major requires an internship or journalism workshop.

Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.
