The University Studies degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a flexible undergraduate program which allows students to design a course of study that best fits their educational and career goals rather than follow a specific track of coursework prescribed by a major degree. The University Studies degree can be completed as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS). With a University Studies degree, students will graduate with a breadth of knowledge in a range of academic disciplines, preparing them for the workforce, graduate school, or fulfilling their dreams of obtaining a degree.

Students will begin with an in-depth look at the five main components of solving a problem and practice the skills through a series of a structured exercises. During this process, students will discuss research, assessment of data, brainstorming and creative thinking, planning, time management, leadership and collaboration, effective communication, and evaluating results. Students will then apply the skills learned to their area of interest in a final project.

This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

The criminal justice program leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and supports the Bachelor of Applied Science Degree with courses applicable to criminal justice, community and mental health, and legal studies tracks.

Environmental Science
The environmental science program at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is designed to serve environmental science majors, science majors from other fields interested in adding to their knowledge of the environment, and interested non-science majors.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll enjoy small specialty classes and diverse laboratory and field experiences. Environmental science facilities include biological, geological and map collections as well as a wide array of field and laboratory equipment, and computer labs for GIS and modeling studies. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi research centers and institutes on campus afford students access to modern laboratories where they may participate in environmental research.

The Master of Science in Early Childhood Education is a degree designed for individuals who are currently working with young children or are desiring to work with young children in an educational setting. Courses are structured to increase the educator’s knowledge of young children and the ensuing implications for programs and curricula.

Teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators will improve their competence in designing curriculum, classrooms, centers, and classroom experiences for young children. Students will also improve their skills in evaluating instruction based on children’s needs, and develop techniques to appropriately evaluate young children’s learning.

Through the Master's in Early Childhood Education, teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators develop advanced expertise in designing curricula, classrooms, and experiences for young children. This program prepares early childhood professionals who will promote and provide excellence in education, research, and leadership to the diverse communities and educational needs of young children in the global community.

Geology
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. The mission of the geology program is to provide integrated and process-oriented curricula, based on fundamental scientific principles and processes that enable graduates to pursue challenging careers and maintain lifelong learning. Sociology
As the largest department in the College of Liberal Arts, we offer undergraduate degrees in both psychology and sociology, as well as minors in Social Work and Women and Gender Studies. We also offer a master’s degree in psychology with a clinical emphasis.

This is a dynamic department with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.

Within this program, you’ll be able to gather, evaluate and synthesize information to build and defend arguments. You’ll also demonstrate communication competence in dyadic, small group and presentational contexts. As part of this degree, you’ll employ discipline-specific knowledge in applied communication situations.

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is designed to provide professional development at the undergraduate level in the visual arts, through in-depth study in studio art. The degree requires a minimum of 75 semester hours in art, at least 36 of which must be in upper-division coursework.
