With a degree in computer science, you’ll know networking, security, graphics, hardware architecture, and much more. You’ll become proficient in several programming languages, including Java and Python, and develop computer applications that real people use.

Our earth and environmental sciences program links the study of hydrology, geology, meteorology and soil science — water, rocks, air and soil — to explore how Earth’s systems work and how humans impact those systems.

Earth and environmental sciences examines the nonliving components of our environment and how they impact living things. It’s the scientific study of water, rocks, air and soil and their dynamic interactions. You’ll take courses in hydrology, geology, weather, soil science and more, with lots of hands-on field and lab work, culminating in a research collaboration with faculty.

About half of our graduates pursue graduate studies in organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. Publishing is all about connecting. Writers and readers. Art and business. Traditional and new technologies. Gain the knowledge and skills to navigate these interconnections, and reflect on the:

Our publishing and editing program is big enough that you’ll have access to a high-tech, dedicated lab and eight department student publications, and small enough that you’ll get hands-on, personalized attention from faculty. Our students have even helped produce a professional publication, which saw two pieces nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Learn the essentials of digital and new media and gain real-life experience as a broadcaster — in front of or behind the camera — at Susquehanna. You’ll gain a holistic view of visual storytelling with our interdisciplinary minors, like film studies, to gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Learn principles of writing, ethics of communications, theories of traditional and digital media, and what it means to be a communications professional. Then, team up with others to learn tenets of broadcast media and professional communication. At Susquehanna, you will use the latest video and audio production equipment to practice videography, digital editing, writing for new media, commercial production and on-air procedures.

Action!

Evolve from a budding video storyteller to a well-rounded broadcast professional. You’ll amass experience in the field — broadcasting sports, creating commercials or shooting interviews — while you craft your own artistic vision. There are lots of opportunities for you to be involved, especially LensFlare, a group of students who create promotional and instructional videos for other students or faculty and staff.

Many broadcasting students take advantage of internships and study-abroad opportunities to gain a unique worldview of broadcast media. Before you leave Susquehanna, you will build a professional portfolio that will put you a level above the competition in your career field.

Physics courses in classical areas such as mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, and electronics with select classes in quantum areas give students the foundational knowledge to continue their education, step into a career or teach the next generation of Einsteins.

You will gain foundational skills like writing, editing, interviewing and even multimedia production — plus the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills from your well-rounded liberal arts education — to empower your storytelling. Susquehanna provides platforms for journalism and digital content majors, including the student-run newspaper, The Quill, the LensFlare student broadcasting group and other professional student clubs.

Our economics department consistently ranks as one of the top liberal arts economics departments for research by the Federal Reserve.

The research training you receive here will show prospective employers in any field that you know how to solve problems. Using cutting-edge approaches, you’ll conduct both extensive examinations of policy-related problems and quick analyses to get the gist of an issue.

You’ll complete at least one major research project and have the chance to present your research at conferences on campus and on the national stage.

The graphic design program at Susquehanna is focused, close-knit, challenging, intense and ultimately very rewarding. Our work is a fixture in regional and national student design competitions, and our best graduates ascend to art director and creative director positions with astonishing regularity. Our graduates don’t just make pretty pictures, they are sophisticated critical thinkers and problem solvers, and they have the skills required to win jobs at the best design and advertising agencies in the country.
