Individualized Studies Emphasis

Health informatics uses the same principle of processing data, but for the purpose of improving healthcare outcomes. The data collected at doctors' offices, clinics, and pharmacies plays a critical role in healthcare reform. The University of Findlay's Master of Science in Health Informatics Program prepares students to take on emerging healthcare roles and to be successful in a fast-growing field. Our program is offered in two formats, which provides our students with the flexibility to fit classes into their busy schedules. The program is offered 100 percent online or in a hybrid format, which is a combination of both online and on-campus courses.

Students can complete the Master of Science in Health Informatics Program in just two years. They also have the option to complete six courses to earn the Certificate in Health Informatics, which can be applied towards the master's degree later.

Our program provides students with the medical knowledge, technical skills, and experience in a variety of didactic and clinical settings necessary for them to become ethical, competent, and compassionate health care providers as part of a health care team.

Medical laboratory scientists perform laboratory tests used in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease. These tests range from simple blood tests to more complex analyses such as those needed to uncover diseases such as AIDS, diabetes or cancer. Medical laboratory scientists can also specialize in areas such as chemistry, hematology, blood banking, immunology and microbiology. They are responsible for the accuracy of test results and the reporting of results to the pathologist or other doctors.

At the University of Findlay, you can earn Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Management Emphasis. The required courses ensure a variety of experiences. This major places a strong emphasis on written and oral communication skills, teamwork and personal initiative.

The English program provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in many diverse areas of education, public relations, communications, law, and marketing.  As an English major, you will develop skills to become a critical reader, writer, and thinker through the study of diverse literary genres, writing strategies, and research skills.

Creative Writing
The creative writing emphasis focuses on the development and writing of original works and promotes opportunity for self-expression, emphasizing the relationship between writer and audience, while also exposing students to the professional world of publishing.

Learn about the relationship between computers and mathematics

An emphasis in mathematics prepares students for careers as computer scientists, mathematical programmers or software engineers. Graduates will serve as the inventors, theorists and researchers that create and troubleshoot new computer technologies and applications. They can also design new programming languages, develop virtual reality environments and advance ideas towards the relationship between computer technologies and humanity.

To complete a Computer Science degree with a Mathematics Emphasis you must complete six mathematics emphasis courses in addition to the computer science core courses.

Findlay's children's book illustration major provides a curriculum focused on skills specific to the field of illustration such as drawing, painting, printmaking, design and typography while also integrating coursework in children's literature.  Students work closely with art faculty and the Mazza Museum staff to gain knowledge of the publishing industry and develop their skills in sequential storytelling.

Program Highlights

• Students in the children's book illustration major enjoy access to the Mazza Museum, the most diverse collection of original artwork by children's book illustrators in the world. Students attend annual Mazza conferences, interact with nationally recognized award-winning illustrators, complete internships with the museum, and volunteer with monthly educational events.
• The Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery provides opportunities for art management students to participate in the organization, preparation, and installation of shows. The Lea Gallery presents eight to ten exhibitions throughout the year, including works by students, faculty, and regional and national artists.  Students engage with exhibiting artists through gallery talks, classroom demonstrations, and public presentations.
• Children's book illustration majors have the opportunity to visit nationally-recognized museums and galleries through study trips abroad, annual art program trips to New York City and Chicago, and class trips to museums such as the Toledo Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Art.

Christian studies Emphasis
Students first learn the history of Christianity and interpretation of the Bible and develop their knowledge of the Old and New Testament.  They also gain hands-on experience through service learning.
