Fighting fires requires knowledge, strategy, expert technique, calm under pressure, and courage.

As a fire science major at the University of New Haven, you will be joining one of the largest, most comprehensive fire science programs in the country. You will learn the science of what gives a fire life, what keeps it burning, and the techniques and tactics to put it out. You will learn to battle blazes, lead teams, and prevent fires from starting in the first place. And, you’ll focus your career path by choosing one of two concentrations:

• Fire Administration: Learn fire department best practices and department command structure as you develop the skills needed to become a leader.
• Fire/Arson Investigation: Prepare for a career in fire investigation, arson/fraud detection, and code enforcement as you earn a minor in criminal justice.

Our facilities are state of the art. Your practical experience in them will include:

• Becoming familiar with modern fire-detection software and alarm panels
• Studying in the state-of-the-art fire/arson investigation lab, where live fires are produced for investigation
• Experimenting with flash and fire points in the fire dynamics lab
• Learning about and experiencing the systems and sprinkler heads used throughout the industry

To produce graduates who are competent, caring Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who remain active in the practice, by providing innovative, inter-professional, student centered education with a focus on experiential education, and with an emphasis on lifelong learning.

The Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences program provides a curriculum and supervised experiences that are designed to fulfill required competencies established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics under the Future Education Model (FEM) accreditation. Successful completion of the program results in a Verification Statement from the Program Director authorizing eligibility to sit for the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Successful passage of this exam confers the title Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

The Hospitality and Tourism Management degree without a defined concentration affords students more elective choices and therefore enables students to add a minor from within the College of Business or from other Colleges in the University if they so choose

Music thrives as a performance and cultural practice in the U.S. and abroad. The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a dynamic program for the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum. The B.A. program is distinctive in its treatment of music as a worldwide performance and cultural phenomenon, offering students the opportunity to define their degree track with courses and performance ensembles that meet and enhance their interests in music. The program is flexible, allowing students to focus on performance or musicology.

As a marketing major at the University of New Haven you’ll complement a strong foundation in the principles of business by specializing in how e-commerce and marketing technologies such as social media, database marketing, Google AdWords, and data mining have impacted – and forever changed – the traditional study and practice of marketing

Students earning a B.S. degree in marketing are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (40 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).    Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

Students earning a B.S. degree in Business Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).  The major allows the flexibility to minor in a wide array of related areas such as entrepreneurship or marketing.

With a strong emphasis on project-based learning, this unique program was developed for students aspiring for professional growth in managing operations and organizations in the global market by creating a unique blend of state-of-the-art engineering methodologies with key components of business-related topics including finance, marketing, and management theory.

Especially valuable to professional individuals with a number of years of experience in industry and entrepreneurs, applicants are required to hold a four-year baccalaureate degree in engineering or a related field.

Program highlights include:

• Advanced education in the use of scarce resources, managing workforce teams, establishing effective supply chains, assuring high-quality products and services, establishing customer relationships, and planning successful organizational operations
