The Milton and Lillian Peck School of the Arts offers the Master of Fine Arts in Cinematic Arts, an interdisciplinary degree program encompassing graduate studies in film and dance. The curricula in this program include intensive professional training in an individual performance area plus significant interdisciplinary experience in related performance and scholarly fields. All curricula are dedicated to maintaining the most rigorous professional and artistic standards in their disciplines.

The programs currently offered are: film and video production in the Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres; and choreography and performance in the Department of Dance.

The Department of Political Science offers graduate programs of study in political science with concentrations in five fields: American politics; comparative politics; international relations; political theory; and public administration and public policy.

The master’s program is designed to provide students with a basic grounding in the scope and methodology of the discipline, while at the same time allowing maximum flexibility in developing a program of study that will meet students’ career objectives. It is recommended that students preparing themselves for PhD work emphasize empirical theory, quantitative skills and strategies and techniques of conducting research. Students may select coursework to help them prepare for such career fields as governmental service, public and private education, community service, and private industry. In developing an appropriate and coherent program of study, each graduate student works closely with the major professor and committee of advisors.

Biology is the study of life. Biologists analyze organism functions at the cellular and molecular levels using genetics, biochemistry, and microscopy. They also study interactions between organisms and with the environment by examining behavior, morphology, physiology and genetics. Students can take a broad curriculum within Biological Sciences or focus on specific areas, such as ecology, evolution and behavior, cell and molecular biology, or microbiology. Studies in Biological Sciences have applications across many areas including agriculture, medicine, and the environment. Biological Sciences is a popular choice for students preparing for careers in healthcare, agriculture, natural resources and environmental sciences, food management, bioremediation, as well as the biomedical and biotechnology fields. A degree in Biological Sciences also prepares students for professional careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary science, and education, and graduate studies in the life sciences.

Our program explores both historical and contemporary applications of fine art printmaking. Students are encouraged to focus not only on the image itself, but also how it communicates in the context of its structure and presentation.

German is the third most studied foreign language in the world, and, at UWM, we offer more than just instruction in language. In addition to German fluency, students learn how to apply that fluency by studying German culture, literature, customs, and history.

Wisconsin has a strong German heritage and many students find it both professionally useful and personally satisfying to explore the State's German influences. Many may come into college having already taken German in high school. Students can take a placement test to determine their starting course and may be able to earn retroactive credits if they place above the level of GERMAN 101.

Fluency in German can provide a career advantage in all types of industries where Germany and other German-speaking countries are leaders: finance, marketing, manufacturing, politics, government work, electronics and technology, chemical and biochemical, environmental science, and architecture. At UWM, language students receive an education in not just language fluency but also in the culture surrounding that language. Context matters in communication, and we believe it is important for students to understand the history, literature, and customs of native speakers of German in order to successfully apply their fluency.

The Peck School of the Arts’ Kenilworth Square East (KSE) Gallery provides a year-round schedule of exhibitions, with galleries that are housed in the Kenilworth Square East building, a research facility approximately one mile from campus. The Department of Art and Design offers a schedule of workshops and special lectures each year. In addition, graduate student studios are located in the Kenilworth Square East building.

Religious studies is an interdisciplinary major that draws on courses from multiple departments to give students a broad understanding of the historical, cultural and philosophical principles of the world's religions, including Buddhism, Christianity, Classical Greek and Roman religions, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, African and Native-American religions. These diverse belief systems are studied not just for their influence over past generations but also to better understand their role in modern issues.

Religious Studies is not just for students planning to go on to become a priest, rabbi or minister. The program provides excellent preparation for all careers that require critical thinking, logic, analysis and writing skills. Because of the breadth of the subject matter, students graduate with a global perspective, an appreciation for different viewpoints and substantive knowledge about ethics and core belief systems of the past and present.

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (ITM) program at the Lubar School of Business is an innovative, STEM-designated program that combines technical, managerial, and business knowledge - providing students with a unique blend of skills to address IT challenges in today's dynamic business environment.

Through a combination of rigorous core courses and advanced elective courses, students acquire a diverse skill set in information technology management and develop specialized knowledge and expertise in areas such as enterprise resource planning, business analytics, and security and risk management.

The program is designed to serve both individuals pursuing a change in career, as well as IT professionals desiring greater in-depth knowledge to advance in their careers. In addition, it will prepare students who seek admission to a PhD program. The program can be completed within one to three years, depending upon part-time or full-time enrollment status.

The Graduate Concentration in AI and Data Analytics provides the knowledge needed by professionals working in corporate, non-profit, government, and institutions. The program provides students the ability to research complex topics and to present their conclusions. Courses focus on identifying issues and providing solutions.

The BFA: Winds, Brass, and Percussion program is designed to prepare students for professional performing careers and studio teaching. The goal of the program is to graduate students who are expert performers and knowledgeable music scholars.  Students take private lessons and master classes; and perform solo recitals, chamber music, orchestral music, and wind band music while working on their degrees.

The Nutritional Sciences Program is a 120-credit interdisciplinary undergraduate major administered jointly by the Biomedical Sciences and Kinesiology Departments in the College of Health Sciences. The Nutritional Sciences program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biological, physical, and social sciences, in order to understand the relationships among food, nutrients, eating behavior, and human health.
